NYT Mini Crossword Solutions: October 31st and November 1st
NYT Mini Crossword Answers: A Spooktacular Halloween Puzzle!
Happy belated Halloween, everyone! I hope your day was filled with spooky costumes, yummy candy, and tons of fun! Let's dive straight into the NYT Mini Crossword solutions for October 31st. No time to waste!
Across:
- 1. Hybrid equine animal with stripes — ZORSE
- 6. "Fingers crossed!" — IHOPE
- 6. Record company — LABEL
- 7. Shoe that can be decorated with pieces called Jibbitz — CROC
- 8. Wearing many ___ (versatile at work) — HATS
Down:
- 1. Zippo, nada, nothin' — ZILCH
- 2. Catherine of "Beetlejuice" — OHARA
- 3. Halloween costume with a cardboard box and aluminum foil — ROBOT
- 4. Tech product details — SPECS
- 5. Sushi fish served cooked — EEL
My Experience: That 1 Across, Zorse, initially threw me. I put down ZEBRA, but that was totally wrong; it's pretty common for that initial entry to be completely off which sets you off and needs a change! I nearly got caught as ZILCH (1 Down) actually worked... until it didn't, and everything completely fell apart because I missed the correct initial clue!
Once I fixed ZORSE though, the puzzle became fairly easy, thankfully. This actually showcases just why this NYT Mini Crossword's own arrangement remains really quite brilliant: That one-wrong initial letter impacts everything else. Getting the right start completely makes this incredibly easy; therefore this structure helps create those moments of intense concentration; especially those times of initial difficulty. Those initial obstacles make all later solving way more fulfilling when accomplished! This becomes an additional method for providing a very interesting yet easy experience.
