Coughlan has discounted this specific hypothesis regarding season 3 part 2, but it does not mean Benedict and Sophie won't be the couple shown in Bridgerton season 4. Although the primary coupling for the upcoming season has not yet been officially revealed, there are several convincing reasons why the show will probably adapt book 3 next. The most important point is that changing book 5 next would produce a much more significant distortion in the chronology of the books.
The romance of the second-oldest Bridgerton daughter Eloise (Claudia Jessie) runs front stage in volume five, To Sir Phillip, With Love. Given how Season 3 has woven book 4 into its continuous narrative, this is not exactly an issue; still, it seems this split in the timeline was not meant but created to use Coughlan and Newton as rapidly as possible in case either actor wanted to leave the series. Specifically, both season 1 stars Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page left following the end of their storylines. Benedict has been a constant since season 1; Sophie has not yet joined the Bridgerton cast.
There is evidence refuting a major fan idea regarding the second part of Bridgerton season 3. Though not always in the same order, every season of the Netflix Regency-era romantic program adapts a different novel in Julia Quinn's book series of the same name. While seasons 1 and 2 tailored the first two books, season 3 is adapting book 4, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, which centers on the developing romance between Colin (Luke Newton) and longtime Bridgerton character Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), who covertly operates as the pseudonymous gossip columnist Lady Whistledown.
A keen observer noticed a clue in a behind-the-scenes Bridgerton picture Coughlan uploaded on Instagram—a message on a mirror bearing the words "Sophie." Coughlan responded, "lolll no, that's [Sophie Burton's] makeup station!" when the user remarked "SOPHIE?!?, implying the image confirmed the theory Benedict Bridgerton's (Luke Thompson) book 3 lover Sophie Beckett would be appearing in season 3 part 2." One can get a screen grab of the exchange below:
The eight Bridgerton siblings—Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth—are followed on the show as they negotiate life in Regency-era England and search for love over the social season.

Using her Instagram comments, Penelope Featherington actor Nicola Coughlan responded to a fan theory about the forthcoming Bridgerton season 3 episode 2. The program centers on a well-known set of books. The next season is much awaited by many of the supporters. The show's writers have created multiple seasons with thrilling turns that have had viewers on the tip of their seats.
It would have been difficult to have both Romancing Mister Bridgerton's characters remain on the show for three whole seasons before adequately adjusting their narrative, but this may have been what was needed to move their plot. But given the age of the younger Bridgerton brothers, hurrying through volumes 5 and later would call for a somewhat bigger time jump. Though the latter doesn't premiere in season 3 part 2, it still appears most likely that Bridgerton season 4 will place Benedict and Sophie front and center.
