Brandon Routh's advise on Superman Corenswet, David
Although his time as Superman may not have been flawless, Brandon Routh offers David Corenswet some wise counsel for the upcoming James Gunn-directed Superman Legacy film, which will launch the DC Universe. While Routh received praise for his performance as the Man of Steel in Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, the film itself was not well received, and a sequel was never produced. However, a few years later, Routh was back in the role of Superman for The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths television event.
In spite of this overlooked history of live-action Superman, Routh has offered both Corenswet and Gunn some very valuable guidance for their own takes on the character. Although there isn't much information available regarding the upcoming Superman Legacy film, Routh's comments provide a strong basis and perfectly capture Superman.
David Corenset's latest Superman film
During his appearance at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024, Brandon Routh offered the aspiring Superman actor some insightful tips on what makes the legendary hero work. This is what he said:
"For me, Superman's greatest quality is his unwavering recognition of his non-physical abilities... I take it literally, even though it may sound corny to compare it to the proverbial "teach a man to fish" tale. People may never learn how to save themselves if you constantly and everywhere help them. That doesn't imply that you shouldn't try to save them; rather, it only indicates that Superman's lessons, character, aspect, and ability to communicate with people can help us understand inclusiveness."
Date of release for Superman Legacy
Superman's humanity and compassion are highlighted by Routh's remarks, demonstrating that he is more than just a strong deity. The Dcu Superman outfit reveal, which features a worn-out Superman getting ready for a major battle in the background, appears to indicate that the franchise is embracing Superman's more human side.
Additionally, Routh stated: "Superman is pure love; he doesn't pass judgment." Superman must make difficult decisions and prevent evil deeds, but my vision of him is the person that everybody may aspire to be—perhaps without the flying and other extravagances. However, he embodies the best aspects of humanity, and by speaking the truth and acting as an example, he might show us how to do it."
Legacy of Superman Returns
As Routh notes, a major aspect of Superman's character is his compassion and devotion to others, demonstrating that heroes may exist "without all the flying." The DCCU should emphasize how Inspirational Clark is in both his superhero and everyday lives, proving that anyone can be a hero even in the absence of superpowers.
James Gunn and David Corenswet should give Routh's advice serious thought. It truly strikes at the core of Superman's values. Some people find Superman difficult to relate to because of his extraordinary power, especially when compared to other non-powered heroes like Batman. However, Routh's remarks highlight the fact that, despite being virtually unbeatable, Superman is fundamentally human and fights to maintain his morality.
James Gunn directed the Superman film.
It's been a long since we've seen an idealistic Superman on the big screen, so Routh's advice is right on. Superman's ideals are not shared by many of the characters we've met recently, such as Homelander from The Boys. This makes it ideal for a more upbeat Superman, in line with what Routh has stated on the Dcu Superman film.
We're excited to watch how James Gunn creates his vision of the Man of Steel and how David Corenswet plays Superman after taking Routh's advise!
