You know what a really great "prequel" is? Well, Apartment 7A tries its best to have elements from "Rosemary’s Baby", and really bring out the spirit of that movie. But here's the thing, some viewers will think this movie could have had its own great vision.
It seems, for a lot of viewers that "Apartment 7A" had elements from a movie that had a strong, emotional "Black Swan" impact.
The character Terry was originally only in "Rosemary’s Baby." Her journey was cut short but in "Apartment 7A," this amazing "Black Swan" esque character really stands out, as Terry tries to climb the ladder of success as a dancer! It has a sense that she will take the lead as a professional! Her life falls apart and this will make anyone wonder about how a terrible situation with an ankle injury really does ruin dreams. But, it's just one more event in her world that starts getting super, crazy as she starts to think she's got this super special connection with the devil. This movie truly is terrifying as Terry experiences so many challenges in the world.
"Black Swan" fans will recognize so many elements as the movie itself follows a very talented dancer called Nina. Nina's goal is to play a big part in a dance performance and this is another moment where the whole performance can become all-consuming! Nina feels she can do it all, but this will drive her down a path full of madness! Nina experiences her moment of accomplishment, however, her sanity is tested! What makes "Apartment 7A" different? It really is a bit darker and that's why it might stand out even more!
"Apartment 7A, which stars Julia Garner. She really helps "Apartment 7A" come to life. As the character "Terry", in the film’s beginning, has a truly intense, scary path that is so much like "Black Swan."
There were some huge opportunities for the film to be truly unique and really give this special prequel its rightful time! Instead it just felt so similar to "Rosemary’s Baby"!
"Black Swan" shows us just how incredible it is to witness characters that are deeply obsessed. The obsession with getting the perfect role or winning the big, major spotlight in Hollywood, but that story could have worked amazingly for "Apartment 7A."
They missed the big opportunity!
Fans get to watch "Apartment 7A", and while it tries hard to go its own way. For viewers of "Rosemary’s Baby," you might have already anticipated a very common type of ending. It's almost as if it is giving you that feeling that something terrible is going to happen. "Apartment 7A" is such a good film in so many ways, especially its talent, and this is truly a testament to the movie's stars! What audiences need to understand, though, is that these stories need that sense of suspense and unexpected events to keep audiences really enjoying themselves! If this was more so, they may have achieved more.
This makes it appear as if this series is too concerned with its origin! They forgot that the true potential lay in "Terry"s path and in making something memorable!
With this said, for fans of "Rosemary’s Baby", "Apartment 7A" could be the perfect film! It's an interesting concept that does try to push forward its message! What may make the show an intriguing adventure is the actors, who seem to really push themselves, including Julia Garner, who has been an incredible actress! But for the most part, the show's heart might miss its true mark and make some fans truly feel a bit empty in their quest to get more thrills out of this special movie.
