Zod against Sinestro: Three basic sentences! The sins of the fathers scorish in both of their hearts like a cosmic wildfire! That resentment finds expression only against each other; but, will they destroy the cosmos before they can destroy each other?
With its August solicitations, DC Comics has shown readers what is ahead later this summer. Absolute Power and its array of tie-in games are the major draws. The launch of the new DC Black Label title Jenny Sparks or the Zero Hour 30th Anniversary Special #1 to honor the milestone year of the great event also promises some interesting new stuff. But among all these fantastic exploits is a narrative that might have major effects on the DC Universe. Joe Casey and Dan McDaid's epic tale Kneel Before Zod carries on with an intriguing eighth issue. Though General Zod has already gone through the wringer, his challenges are far from finished. August's problem will see the master of dread and main Green Lantern adversary, Thaal Sinestro, square off against the legendary Superman opponent. Describing the "cosmic wildfire" burning in both of their hearts as the two engage in their terrible war, the solicitation fuels the approaching struggle.
Both Zod and Sinestro are in their lowest points in life.
Given almost everything General Zod and Sinestro have had taken from them, it is understandable that both men have become enraged over everything else. In Sinestro's instance, he lost the Corps he started following a plot by Lord Premier Thaaros to take over the Emotional Spectrum destroyed. Sinestro ended up lodged on Earth with no means of returning to Korugar. But Sinestro picked up a new light after meeting Green Lantern.
Sinestro reached the Red Light of Rage instead of fear and discovered he was naturally adjusting to the strong feeling and its unpredictable light. Content that he now had power once more, Sinestro set out into the cosmos to exact revenge on the person who had wrecked the Sinestro Corps Central Power Battery. But Sinestro's narrative is little compared to Zod's, whose latest problems started following his effort to resurrect the bottled metropolis of Kandor. Sadly, a spat with his son would bring Zod down finally. After his son Lor-Zod questioned his father's power, Zod banished him. Lor-Zod was kidnapped by a troop of Khunds while out in the cosmos, hence he told his father about his work on New Kandor in return for his release. Attacking New Kandor, the Khunds killed General Zod's wife Ursa. The attack wrecked Zod's work and split his family apart. General Zod left New Kandor to exact retribution on everyone who had wrecked his life, having nothing else to lose.
And what will come from the struggle between Zod and Sinestro?
Right now General Zod and Sinestro are on quite separate routes. Sinestro is rebuilding his world while Zod is creating a fresh army. What then may possibly cause them to clash? The response is each of their sons, who have developed an unexpected and improbable bond. Lor-Zod's ship was taken by Kong, a Korugarian lad claiming to be Sinestro's son, while he was out exploring the universe. Following a misadventure involving a space whale, the two have ended up under Sinestro's protection on New Korugar.
Now even while Zod has taken care of the Khunds that attacked New Kandor, he still has a bone to chew on with his son, Lor-Zod. Revenge is all he has to live for. Zod has previously shown a readiness to inflict damage on his own flesh and blood, hence it is logical to believe he will chase down Lor-Zod seeking his pound of meat. Of course, Sinestro, who doesn't take well to threats to his planet, will be greatly offended if the lads remain on New Korugar. The solicitation makes fascinating reference to "sins of the fathers." Zod lost everything because he tossed out his kid. Sinestro now has every cause to guard his flesh and blood, having perhaps abandoned Korg. The existence of their family is transforming both men's life and driving them directly toward a major clash. Between Zod's Kryptonian might and Sinestro's fresh rage-fueled abilities, these two are engaging the largest conflict the DC Universe has ever seen, and who knows how that might turn out?
The DC Universe Will See Dramatic Changes after Zod and Sinestro's Fight
Two of the most strong cosmic adversaries of the Justice League are poised to threaten the DC Universe as whole. General Zod and Thaal Sinestro are now concentrating on defeating each other instead of on eradicating their most loathed enemies.
For General Zod as well as Sinestro, the past year has brought many changes. Both guys have nothing left to live for except hate and rage; they have lost the things most dear to them. Now they are set to cross paths in a conflict with potentially fatal results for the rest of the DC Universe.
The Justice League and the Campaign of the Villains
Zod sees red and not much could stop him. Anything may come of a struggle between these two giants. One or both of the Sinister Sons might wind up dead, or New Korugar could wind up wrecked. It's difficult to project how things will turn out while Sinestro and Zod are losing themselves to wrath. The only thing that is certain is that the Justice League cannot halt this forthcoming conflict from far out in space.
August 7th DC offers Kneel Before Zod #8. The DC Universe will be rocked and viewers on the brink of their seats will be left by this dramatic collision between two venerable DC Villains. There are great stakes as the universe's fate rests in flux. Fans of the DC Universe should definitely read the fight between Zod and Sinestro since it promises a suspenseful and erratic showdown between two of the most powerful enemies in comics.
