Fallout: London, the massive Fallout 4 expansion, has brought several more factions including the Vagabonds. Many are probably thinking if it is worth joining one of the first factions players will probably meet on the streets of post-apocalyptic London. Joining the faction has advantages and disadvantages, as is usual with factions in many Fallout games; thus, players will wish to know what they are getting themselves into before they commit to any one organization.
Inspired by the real-life gang the Peaky Blinders, Fallout: London has an orderly street gang called the Vagabonds. Like its inspiration, the group easily distinguishes their members by wearing peaked flat caps. The Vagabonds have become more violent, even if their initial intentions were relatively charitable—that of fairly dispersing power among members of their area. This is mostly resulting from their rival gang, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate, killing their former leader.
Sebastian Gaunt, a straightforward man whose demeanor fits that of his gang, leads the Vagabonds. Though he acts rudely and negatively on the outside, he hides excellent intentions under his tough appearance. Gaunt will first just provide the player some odd employment; but, if they so want, players can ultimately win him over and join the group.
Following Fallout: Players run encounter the Vagabonds soon after escaping a Tube crash. Should players consent to working with them, Gaunt will assign them a switchblade and have the player follow him. Following a brief walking tour of the local neighborhood, players will be assigned to retrieve a first aid kit for a wounded gang member called "Tricky."
Players will locate the equipment and are able to return to Ricky after battling their way through a wrecked Greenwich Station inhabited by wild ghouls. After that, players will have to go to the Swan & Mitre bar to meet Gaunt and assist the Vagabonds in fending off some Syndicate invasion members. Before they can formally join up, gamers will have to assist different Vagabonds with brief missions following the conflict.
Players have to speak with Sebastian Gaunt in the Swan & Mitre after finishing many missions for the group. Gaunt will let the player become a full-fledged Vagabond member if they have earned enough trust with the gang. Following agreement to join, the player will be assigned the first formal mission as a gang member and have the chance to acquire some free supplies now that they have registered.
Joining the Vagabonds has one of the main advantages since it is the fastest approach to fix Fallout: London's player's Railway Spine. The Tube crash causes the player to develop Railway Spine right following the tutorial. This debuff is particularly unpleasant, cutting all damage done by ten percent. Fortunately, soon after meeting the Vagabonds, players can consult Yvette and receive her treatment for this illness. This will simplify the rest of the game since players will be causing the correct level of damage.
One other benefit of becoming a Vagabond is having a secure spot early in the game. They can come to the Swan & Mitre for weapons and supplies, therefore reducing the necessity for as much scavenging to survive. Since they won't have to waste too much time looking for good gear before beginning quests, this will also enable players leap into the action more swiftly.
Regarding missions, the Vagabonds also provide a considerable quantity. This will enable the player to acquire some early experience, therefore preparing them to meet more demanding tasks. For players who desire not to walk aimlessly, it also signifies that there is something to be doing right now. That said, some players may prefer to explore on their own, which means they might want to hold off on starting up the Vagabonds’ questline.
One big drawback of hanging out with the Vagabonds is that it could feel as though players are being pushed toward early on side choice. Because players meet the Vagabonds so early, they don’t have too much time to form an opinion on them or their rival gang, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate. By not allowing players to organically learn about both factions and form their own opinions before joining up, players may feel a little pressured into quickly making the choice to join up with the Vagabonds.
That said, joining the Vagabonds doesn’t seem to lock players out of doing other choices. It is perfectly fine to do some of the Vagabonds early quests and get the Railway Spine cure, then move on to other parts of the game. This is most likely the best line of action for players that want not to be instantly bound down to the Vagabonds. They can reap all the rewards of early membership while also leaving themselves free to experience the other factions Fallout: London has to offer.
As of now, it doesn’t seem like joining the Vagabonds has any sort of negative lasting consequences that players need to avoid. This means that the advantages of joining the group, or at least working with them for a bit, far outweigh the downsides. Fallout: London players should, therefore, give the Vagabonds a chance at the very least and get themselves cured before moving on to other factions.
