Might Halo find a place on PS5? Report Says Xbox's Iconic Series Might Next.

Halo, Report Says PS5's Next Big Shooter Could Be

Not the first time such rumors have whirled around, the most recent accounts of Microsoft looking to bring Halo to PlayStation 5 are not fresh. While the future of those games is yet unknown, several leakers claimed in the early months of 2024 that Xbox was looking to bring some of its more significant exclusives, including Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, over to Sony's platform. Still, both of those names are somewhat meager when compared to Halo.

Given the series is sometimes seen as Microsoft's crown gem, porting Halo over to PlayStation would be a huge action. The Xbox brand and the firm has used the franchise's iconography to sell hardware in the past; Master Chief's exploits are in line with both. Previously trying to compete, Sony produced original first-person shooters like Resistance and Killzone but none one came close to unseating Halo.

Could PS5 have more Xbox games?

None other than Microsoft's most iconic property, Halo, could be the next big Xbox game to migrate to PlayStation 5. Xbox has started changing its release strategy in the past few months by introducing some of the popular exclusive games on other devices, a move that has infuriated long-time users yearning great first-hand experiences. Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, and Pentiment were the first Xbox exclusive bundles to cross the platform line and land on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch; but, Master Chief might soon be added.

Following Sea of Thieves' success on the rival console, Microsoft might be considering bringing the Halo franchise to PlayStation 5 the not too distant future, claims Tom Warren (via GamesRadar+). Although this story should be taken with a grain of salt until Xbox releases an official statement, it's not difficult to picture Sony adding something like The Master Chief Collection to their system, giving an altogether new audience an access to play the game. A port undoubtedly has precedent as, at the time of writing, Microsoft seems to be giving software sales top priority above hardware.

Halo's Shift to PlayStation

For Microsoft, Halo falling on the PlayStation 5 is a dramatic change that would surely infuriate fans seeing it as a "surrender" to Sony. Whether or not the most recent statistics are accurate is yet unknown, but players won't have to guess for very long since Xbox is staging its big annual showcase on June 9. The fans of Master Chief might be about to grow dramatically.

The crew has lately declared that the campaign of the mod is almost over. Redshift consists of six levels. A significant portion of the project, the mod has been under development for about three years and presents an interesting viewpoint on the game's history together with a fun experience.

Furthermore mentioned by the developer team is their mod's free public availability. Seeing RedShift support the Halo community and whether the team plans any more Halo work will be interesting.
