Fallout 4's Hidden Character: The Preston Garvey Impersonator
Fallout 4 is filled with interesting characters like Nick Valentine, Piper Wright, and Paladin Danse. But did you know there's a Hidden Character that some players may never meet, even after hundreds of hours of gameplay?
One Reddit user, Strange_Ad4922, shared a clip of a dead Preston Garvey, wondering why he was dead in the Wasteland but alive back at their settlement. Many players commented that it was actually an Impersonator, but others like ZappBrannigansburner admitted they had never encountered him even after playing for close to 2,000 hours!
Who Is The Preston Garvey Impersonator?
The Preston Garvey Impersonator only appears briefly in a Random Encounter called "Preston Garvey." He claims the Minutemen are "making a comeback" and asks for 100 caps for the cause. Players can choose to be sarcastic, condemn the impersonator, or simply give him the caps.
If you tell him you know Preston or that you are the General of the Minutemen (especially if you have the uniform equipped or the real Preston Garvey as a companion), the impersonator will run away. His character name in V.A.T.S. will change to "Preston Garvey Impersonator." You can also kill him if you want to punish him for his deception.
While it's funny to see both Prestons on screen, it's a missed opportunity that they don't acknowledge each other. The encounter is a small, random event, which may explain why some players have missed it. Even though you might be missing out on some amusing dialogue, it's not a big deal if you haven't encountered the Preston Garvey impersonator. There's not much more to the encounter than that.
