Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Missed a Major Opportunity With the Final Boss
For many players, Shadow Of The Erdtree has delivered on practically every front. Much more than Limgrave, the expansion presents a fresh, huge area for discovery. The enemy challenge is much heightened, and Soulsborne aficionados have a great wealth of mythology to explore. Many of the superiors—including Messmer, the Impaler, Twin Moon Knight, Rellana—delive on their promises. Still, the last boss falls short of her potential.
Final Boss Analysis: The Said Consort
Though Shadow Of The Erdtree's last boss is not terrible, it is a lost chance. The idea itself is interesting since it combines two strong bosses (and three demi-gods with great lore presence) into a single terrible opponent. Still, the execution comes out flat.
Radahn's Impact Rules Mohg's
On his road to godhood, a rebuilt Radahn fights on behalf of Miquella. Ready to return for a second time the Tarnished stand in front of the Starscourge. It is discovered that Radahn's soul resides in Mohg's body following Radahn and Mohg's deaths, so establishing the last boss. The issue is that, in looks and moveset, the boss mostly resembles Radahn. The Promised Consort only has a few of Mohg's Omen horns, has a similar face, and dons Radahn's armour. Though probably for simpler dodging, the boss is much smaller than the Starscourge variant and lacks the unique characteristics of Mohg.
missed chance to pair two strong bosses
The boss fight seems as a lost chance to really unite the two strong demi-gods. Mohg's presence is hardly felt in the battle except in a few rare cases. One blood attack by The Promised Consort inherits Mohg's size. Still, Radahn's general look and moveset greatly favor him. It seems like a lost opportunity to produce a very original and engaging boss fight.
Mohg's presence should have been more obvious.
Mohg might not be as well-known as the Starscourge given his optional boss status in a remote area and absence from the CG trailer. Though Radahn's soul is not in its best shape in the battle, he was able to fight the Tarnished at his strongest. To match this, the manager should have displayed more of Mohg's traits and fighting approach. Mohg's skills could be included into the battle in many different ways, including adding flaming blood effects or using his wings for aerial strikes.
Still Offers a Thrilling Challenge: The Final Boss
The last boss in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is still a difficult and visually striking fight despite the lost opportunity. It offers a dynamic interaction and, upon conquering it, a sense of accomplishment. Still, the battle might have been improved by combining Radahn's and Mohg's personalities and skills in more harmony.
