Starfield's "Eat The Rich" Mod offers another way out from the Paradiso Conflict.
By attacking a group of avaricious hotel executives and letting a group of lost colonists occupy the planet they have taken over instead, a Starfield Mod titled "Alternate Paradiso Solution - Eat the Rich" lets players fulfill the quest "First Contact" the way the base game always should have. Starfield's Creations and Nexus Mods both have the mod available. This quest's options by default are really poor, and the evil guys always appear to prevail.
The ECS Constant, a colony ship predating the development of the grav drive and faster-than-light travel, was initially scheduled to settle on the deserted planet Porrima II and begin a human colony there. But it's taken the crew approximately 200 years to get there given the ships' somewhat low-tech means of travel. The Constant stays in orbit even the player character shows up. Its staff finds that the tourism sector has seized Porrima II and converted it into a luxury resort called Paradiso. The Constant cannot hail Paradiso since the rich board members there do not want to get their hands dirty should any controversy arise and their communications systems are too antiquated. The player so finally has to negotiate a solution. Following executive Oliver Campbell's conversations with the Paradiso board, they essentially have three choices: pay out of pocket for a grav drive so they may leap to an uninhabited world, let them settle on Porrima II in exchange for indentured servitude at the resort, or simply blow up their ship and kill them all. Especially, there is no way to criticize Oliver and the rest of the board straight-forward or persuade them that other people's life exceed their earnings. Paradiso stays on Porrima II, Oliver stays in control, and their profits are unaltered regardless of how the remainder of the search turns out. The Paradiso board members are considered as indispensable NPC, hence they cannot even be killed. "First Contact" ultimately seems like a lost chance; the player's decision has no bearing on the circumstances. The "Alternate Paradiso Solution" patch remedies this, though, by allowing players to teach those selfish tourism executives a lesson—a possibility severely lacking in the original game.
The "Alternate Paradiso Solution" Mod Is More Complicated Than It Seems, Starfield says
But the "Alternate Paradiso Solution" mod does more than just let the player attack the necessary NPC marker on the Paradiso group and delete it. It really alters the entire essence of the search to provide the player a true chance to make a moral judgment and even influences the behavior of different NPC.
For instance, properly complete the objective with the Constant crew authorized to settle on Porrima II, and yes, with this mod installed, it is feasible to just toss a grenade into the Paradiso boardroom without so much a word to Oliver Campbell. Most of Starfield's major friends, including Constellation members like Sarah Morgan, will object to this as indiscriminate murder, though. Their friends won't blink if they instead handle the matter diplomatically at first and only target Oliver when it seems there is no other choice. Offering a morally dubious, powerful decision, the "Alternate Paradiso Solution" mod succeeds where Starfield frequently fails. It generates a significant moment out of a mission that, for all intents and purposes, otherwise always finishes the same way. For some types of characters, it could be absolutely necessary even if it wouldn't make much impact in most runs. And unlike many of the more contentious Starfield Creations, it is entirely free.
Starfield Mods: Improving the Playing Experience
Though it's only corrected one of the most perplexing missions in the game, Starfield's Creations marketplace isn't all horrible. Review bombing and reaction for Starfield have already resulted from the inclusion of the Creation Club, a mod marketplace and common mechanic across all of Bethesda's main role-players over the previous 15 years. This mostly relates to gamers having to buy virtual money before installing specific mods, including a $7, one-and-done side mission published by Bethesda itself.
Still, Starfield's Creations has certain benefits. It lets console gamers alter the game—a capability not usually found anyplace on PC. It's also good to hear some modders will get paid for their diligence. Certain mods, like the Starfield Community Patch, also aim to resolve base game flaws. Though many try to creatively remedy issues the main game leaves out, others aren't quite so ambitious as a full-fledged update.
