The Relic System Mod: An Addition Changing Games
Nine years after its first release in 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has undergone a significant gameplay makeover thanks to a new mod including a reputation system. Especially in side quests, Cd Projekt Red's RPG lets players make many decisions; but, it lacked a thorough morality or reputation system, something that seemed to be sacrificed during development. This system has been rebuilt now thanks to a committed modder.
The Witcher 3 Reputation System Mod: Mechanisms
Designed by Nexus Mods user FreakVlp (via IGN) and posted on July 18, 2024, the Reputation System mod "restores the reputation concept that was cut by CDPR from the game". This mod lets player behaviors in five separate areas influence Geralt's reputation:
The Witcher 3 Mod: Regions and Reputation Levels
Geralt can establish five areas of reputation:
Temeria: White Garden and Velen
Vizima and the army camp Nilfgaard
Redania: Novigrad, Oxenfurt, and the Pontar River's surrounds
Skellige: Every region shown on the Skellige Isles map
Toussaint: Everywhere in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine expansion
Geralt can reach one of five reputation levels—Hated, Disliked, Liked, Respectable, or Neutral—within every area. Starting with a Neutral reputation in every region, Geralt influences standard trade, bartering, and betting. Reaching a particular reputation level influences these activities in the following respects:

Geralt's actions in quests, finishing Witcher contracts, participating in events including horse races, fist fights, and boat races—as well as even interacting with local points of interest—have an impact on reputation. Moreover, actions like brandishing weapons in front of guards and stealing tarnish Geralt's standing.
The Witcher 3 Reputation System Mod: Mechanisms
The Reputation System mod operates using a 100-point scale. Reputation starts at fifty points and might change depending on player behavior. The reputation ranges as follows:
hated: 0–15 points
Not liked: 15 to 40 points
Neutral: Forty to sixty points
Liked: 60–80 points
Respectable: 80–101 points
Despite its present restrictions, this new mod gives the game still another level of depth. Though it mostly affects financial interactions, Cd Projekt Red first meant for it to influence NPC interactions as well. The difficulty of putting such a function into use could help to explain why the original game omitted it.
The Witcher 3 Reputation System Mod: Future Prospectues
The launch of REDkit, a set of modding tools for The Witcher 3, follows shortly the publication of the Reputation System mod. This shows that thanks to committed modders, The Witcher 3's legacy keeps developing even after almost ten years.
