Batman: Gotham by Gaslight Sequel imagines Superman's iconic meteor-like crash landing in 19th-century terms.
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight—The Kryptonian Age #1 will develop on the 19th-century DC Universe first presented in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. Given the opening scene, the Man of Steel will clearly take the stage. Still to be seen, though, what developments Diggle has in mind for this venerable figure. Although Superman's arrival on Earth seems to follow the well-known route of his traditional origin tale, just few specifics have thus been verified so far. Fans will have to wait until June 11, 2024, when the complete edition is published, to find the degree of these changes.
This comic is set to develop in either one of two directions with Superman's arrival on Earth and his relationship to the Kents established. The first and more likely scenario has a time lapse pushing Clark into his adult years. Kal-El might arrive already fully grown, therefore enabling the narrative to move from the crash landing without a time jump. This divergence from his conventional continuity roots would provide a distinctive narrative turn-around. Still, a temporal skip seems more likely. Luckily, this revelation won't cause supporters to wait too long.
Officially arriving in Sequel to Iconic 80s Comic GOTHAM by GASLIGHT is steampunk Superman.
Superman is first introduced to this cherished alternative reality, known among fans for providing Steampunk-esque redesigns, in a preview for the first issue of Gotham by Gaslight, the sequel to the venerable 80s Elseworlds tale. Though the preview shows very little about this Victorian-era Man of Steel, a variant cover for the issue teases the character design this Elseworlds has in store for Clark Kent.
Superman's legendary meteor-like crash landing opens the teaser for Andy Diggle, Leandro Fernández, and Dave Stewart's Batman: Gotham by Gaslight—The Kryptonian Age #1, but this incident takes place in Kansa Tribal Territory in 1860 rather than Kansas in the 20th century. From the kind of transportation Martha and Jonathan Kent used—a horse and buggy—and their clothing, this change in time is clear.
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight - Variant Cover Teases First View of Kryptonian Age #1 Steampunk Superman
Though Kal-El doesn't physically show up in the preview, a Jock variant cover gives viewers an idea of what to expect from Superman's 19th-century makeover. Batman takes front stage, but Superman lurks eerily in the backdrop, half hidden by mist. Though the mist and cowboy hat make it tough to tell the character, the brilliant red eyes definitely imply it is Clark. Based on the cowboy clothing, it seems the Man of Steel will dress in a strongly inspired 19th-century Wild West manner that fits the Steampunk aesthetic. With luck, The Kryptonian Age #1 will show Superman's new design in its whole.
Cowboy Superman dons a brand-new suit as burning as the wild terrain in the heart of the Wild West, leaving fans ravenous.
The Land of Superman
Escaped from his dying planet to crash-land on Earth, the last son of Krypton was raised as Clark Kent, the legendary person who started the whole universe of superheroes. Known better worldwide as Superman, the Man of Steel, Justice League leader, and most famously DC Comics Universe hero, he is Kal-El of Krypton, blessed with the powers of a deity, battles cosmic as well as little foes in his relentless search of truth, justice, and a better future.
The comic book has been a hit, hence the new edition will definitely attract readers. Fans will probably like the fresh interpretation of the venerable superhero.
Though the Man of Steel (or maybe Baby of Steel) himself isn't featured in the clip, it's clear that the good Kents find Superman's space pod despite living in an other universe.
