According to a recent leak, one of the most downloaded meme games of the past ten years, Goat Simulator might be making a big comeback with a fresh coat of paint. Originally debuted in 2014, Coffee Stain Studios' absurd sandbox experience featuring a goat driven to destroy as much as possible has become a major influence in the business, generating multiple big expansions and an oddly titled sequel.
Gematsu on X (formerly Twitter) claims that Cow Simulator Remastered has received ratings for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 in Taiwan. This definitely suggests that developer Mad Dog is considering working on the cherished franchise, even though it does not prove that the ridiculous simulator is getting an upgrade. Although nothing else is known about the project, it seems reasonable to assume that a remastered version of the original Goat Simulator would have better visuals and probably pack together the several DLC expansions.
Although Goat Simulator Remastered sounds exciting, it's important to keep in mind that should the game exist, it might be a joke. Particularly with its titles, which are best shown by the existence of Goat Simulator 3, Goat Simulator has often poked fun at the video game business. The supposed third game in the franchise is actually the second; the title was chosen as a "compromise" since half of the development team wanted to call it Goat Simulator 2 while the other half demanded Goat Simulator 4.
Goat Simulator Remastered might be just playing lighthearted fun at the fact that so many recent releases are just remasters of games that aren't really that old. It would fit the tone of the show even if it turns out to be a real game. Additionally possible is an expansion for Goat Simulator 3.
That said, Mad Dog, LLC, a development studio with a lot of expertise remastering past hits, registered the trademark. That does give validity to the idea that it's a standard update to the original Goat Simulator, but best to treat everything with a grain of salt until an official announcement comes along. That's what the goat would prefer.
