Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred Patch: World Tiers Removed + Massive Changes!

Diablo IV's Vessel of Hatred Update: World Tiers Are OUT, and a TON of Changes Are IN!

Diablo IV's Vessel of Hatred: World Tiers Get the Axe!

Get ready, Diablo fans! Blizzard just dropped a HUGE developer update video for Diablo IV's Vessel of Hatred patch. And the biggest change? They're completely removing World Tiers! Yes, that difficulty system that's been a staple of Diablo IV since launch is going away. It required you to unlock higher difficulties by leveling and completing those annoying capstone dungeons. Players might find this an unwelcome change; it is however a positive one!

This might seem crazy. Yet, it makes sense when considering player feedback; those demands from the player-base regarding ease of use. This is what Blizzard is promising, something previously seen in Diablo III. You can freely hop between Normal, Hard, Expert, and Penitent difficulties!  Unlock Torment 1-4 (the toughest levels) and that's that. So it’s gone. What exactly does this mean? We have a long list that follows:

Massive Overhauls: Paragon Changes, Glyph Leveling, and Guaranteed Legendaries

It isn't only the World Tiers undergoing that insane overhaul. Blizzard has confirmed other very important changes that add to those experiences which previously could’ve underwhelmed.  The old Paragon system in Diablo IV required level grinding; giving Paragon points once those initial 50 levels were complete (adding another level at 25% intervals until 100). But this entire concept changed drastically! Paragon levels are completely separate from your character's level! That level is going to be now shared across ALL your characters in that particular realm (Seasonal, Eternal, Hardcore, Normal)! The level cap also changes to 60!

It gets even better, for experienced players! You earn Paragon levels by going beyond level 60! Existing Eternal characters above level 50 automatically get retroactively boosted Paragon levels – giving them a major advantage which shows some level of compensation from Blizzard! Other changes happened that affected previous character leveling schemes and these all add to the amount of gameplay time players would now experience. It improves everything! It isn’t merely compensation!

Glyph leveling has a huge change, too! Moving it from Nightmare Dungeons to a newly-added area; The Pit of the Artificier! This sounds intense! Yet this is merely the addition of that previously unused location! There's also a guaranteed Legendary item every time you kill those mischievous Loot Goblins or the always-popular and incredibly brutal The Butcher! Those guaranteed legendaries completely change how people approach loot and gear acquisition strategies, generating even better, rarer and more powerful gear earlier into the game! And for anyone who missed it; now you absolutely must complete every level possible and defeat these very same monsters.

Long-time Diablo fans recognize these overhauls as a shift toward what is largely familiar; including several key similarities with Diablo III and removing some questionable choices that failed to resonate with players during the prior updates. Many disliked those changes!  This is far better. It really helps in making many aspects of the game become extremely familiar!  Instead of focusing on hardcore nostalgia (like those efforts seen in earlier stages of development that intended to recapture elements similar to Diablo II); it instead shifts towards emphasizing streamlined fun, rather than that grueling grind of previous releases.
