Top 10 Exotic Pets: A Mix of New and Classic Beasts
10. Aradan: WoW's Newest Exotic Beast
This is the most recent addition – a totally badass beast from the Rookery dungeon. You’ll need some other skill points and access to a unique item—but you’ll have one truly gorgeous flying mount. Aradan matches that amazing Algarian Stormrook mount from the War Within Heroic Edition; giving you a surprisingly large amount of customizable models to make something perfect for yourself. It’s visually striking!
9. Elegon: Tame a Celestial Cloud Serpent!
Taming raid bosses is epic, especially for older raids like Mogu'shan Vaults (Kun-Lai Summits in Mists of Pandaria). Elegon, the second-to-last boss, is that celestial cloud serpent! Taming Elegon means having Exalted reputation with Order of the Cloud Serpents in Jade Forest (meaning plenty of work has already been required!) The model itself is a cosmic showstopper—all those awesome constellations making it unique!
8. Quet'zal: A Thunderous Armored Quilen
Throne of Thunder raid? Three awesome armored quilen pets wait, Quet'zal is just one example, a shimmering silver beast! These awesome mounts appear in various other versions that look equally unique, during the encounter against the Iron Qon. These really stand out as one of the highlights from this epic battle and provide a uniquely cool opportunity for hunters.
7. Oondasta: Armored Devilsaur from the Isle of Giants
This awesome, armored devilsaur (north of Kun-Lai Summit) became tameable long after being a fearsome world boss in the past! This means that the entire strategy for clearing older encounters needed complete shifts to completely defeat Oondasta as the normal ways to conquer these fights simply doesn't work; especially as Oondasta’s mechanics could cause instant deaths for those unprepared! Beating Oondasta gives a Cobalt Primordial Direhorn mount—that awesome armored model has only one model used; only here!
6. Rezan: A Bony Loa for Undead Enthusiasts
For those that adore a truly spooky pet, Rezan awaits! This bony, armored devilsaur is within Atal'Dazar dungeon, totally unique. It displays this incredible level of detail through its uniquely grim aesthetic and appearance; it shows how talented this design team actually is! Its golden armor really adds impact! You’ll need undead taming (Forsaken hunters already got it; otherwise use a rare drop from Maldraxxus). This really delivers on some major creepy themes!
5. Lightning Paw: The Unique Purple Lightning Fox!
This is unique, folks! That bright purple fox; that epic lightning fur crackling, you'll want it. However, you'll spend time hunting for this rare creature; showing that special hunting skills will also be needed to hunt and subdue this beauty for those looking to have such unique creature added into their pet roster. It requires scanning Duskwood bushes— and this crazy thing could appear anywhere between 2-12 hours on random spawn timers; meaning even some amount of chance remains here for obtaining the pet, despite the skill.
4. Lost Spectral Gryphon: An Often Overlooked Classic
Many completely ignore this gorgeous mount because of this little trick needed! It appears near Stormwind City; yet only with a Spectral Feather and higher level, a smoky blue Gryphon with cool looks; and a base model used in many Alliance mounts— available for either faction; making this extremely well-worth those steps required! That Spectral Feather has a respawn timer of 30-minutes to 3 hours!
3. Chromaggus: A Powerful, Genetically Mutated Drakeadon
Chromaggus from Blackwing Lair, (that famous raid involving Nefarian and those nasty Black Dragonflight) isn't just your typical core hound! That is one extremely powerful and capable pet in older fights – a really intense challenge in the past which you now must only overcome easily to obtain. This drakeadon doesn't require extra taming skills; yet it does look amazing. Also check out the Chrominius whistle!
2. Nah'qi: A Fiery Somnowl from a Mythic Raid!
This really showcases a committed effort to obtain! Nah'qi, that awesome flaming somnowl, requires getting that hard-to-find Reins of Anu'relos mount from Fyrakk (Mythic Amirdrassil difficulty). Then you need swift timing – hopping a root in this one specific spot before this majestic bird vanishes. If those things seem far-fetched? That is exactly how difficult obtaining these items are in these really hard fights; demonstrating both the sheer luck needed in addition to various skills. Yet another awesome flaming somnowl option appears elsewhere with no requirements!
1. Loque'nahak: The OG Spirit Beast—And Still the Best!
The very original spirit beast, Loque'nahak, that stunning cream snow leopard with blue glows, remains incredibly popular among Beast Mastery Hunters! From way back (Wrath of the Lich King) in Sholazar Basin, this remains highly sought out for those looking for a simpler solution. Taming is very easy for those finding this beautiful feline, however, there remains one serious challenge involved – its surprisingly infrequent appearances in the world due to that surprisingly long spawn timer! The extremely simple catch makes the rare encounters far more interesting.
