Even the Avengers Went Extreme during the 1990s.
Thirty years ago, the Avengers' coats were quite much a reflection of their times. Many people consider the 1990s as a "extreme" period of American superhero Comics. Early in the decade, several of the worst excesses of the genre were on show. This was a time of ethically dubious people with large guns and matching attitudes. At the time, moreover, iconoclasm approaches to established characters were in fashion. These several strands would come together in the 1990s storylines of the Avengers.
The period the Avengers donned the coats in was one fraught with controversy. One plot, "The Crossing," was a bloated mess ending in the disclosure that Tony Stark had been a years-long agent of Kang the Conqueror. Fans were unhappy about this action, but what happened next is even more bizarre: an adolescent Tony Stark was brought forward in time to replace an adult Tony. The tale was lambasted and is mostly forgotten now. Introduced at this period as well, the brown coats came to represent that age for better or for ill.
Marvel's Matching Costumes for The Avengers Officially Back as Iconic 1990s Look Returns
Marvel is reviving the Avengers' iconic 1990s style, so their matching clothing is making a comeback. Later this year, Avengers Assemble #1 will have Captain America building an amazing new Avengers squad. Long-time Avengers as well as fresh recruits will be part of the new team. As they get ready to fight, the new Avengers will be rocking incredible ensembles reminiscent of the 1990s.
According to Marvel's website, Captain America will form the Avengers Emergency Response Squad under Avengers Assemble #1, which Steve Orlando will be writing and Cory Smith will be illustrating. Attaching Cap on this fresh endeavor are a varied collection of heroes. Some, like Hercules, Wasp, and Photon, have long affiliations to the group. Others, like Shang-Chi, are new members of the team. Along with the usual cover of the book by Leinil Francis Yu, Smith's "Jacket" variation with the squad sporting brown coats—like they did in the 1990s will be published alongside.
Avengers Assemble: Could Bring the Cool Jackets Back
But with the new Avengers Assemble, Marvel now has a wonderful chance to turn over this terrible time in Avengers' past. Although Smith's variant cover only shows the coats right now, they could still be mentioned in the narrative. Matching jackets could be one approach to help Captain America's new squad to be shaped into a more cohesive force. They are ragtag and need to be sculpted. Apart from their use, the coats also look great and could encourage Avengers to work together.

This action can be a terrific way to include readers from the present generation and supporters. Furthermore unclear is whether the story will feature the coats. The plot is probably going to feature a new set of Avengers.
