Superb X-Men: A Novel Mutant Training Period
With their new era, "From the Ashes," the X-Men are back and bring with them a fresh wave of mutant students. The flagship game of the new era, "Exceptional X-Men," presents three fresh mutants: Axo, Bronze, and Melee, who will be guided by the venerable Kate Pryde and Emma Frost.
New Mutants: Characters and Authority
The Krakoan Era is over, and mutants are now included into human society, posing unique difficulties. The three new mutants are negotiating this complicated world and learning to control their talents right in the heart of Chicago, where "Exceptional X-Men" is set.
Bronze: The Metal- Skinned Mutant
Bronze, real name Trista Marshall, has the amazing power to turn her skin into a metallic, durable material like adamantium. She can then work this metal to create lethal, whip-like weapons. Being a mutant in a post-Krakoa society marks Trista's path, but her meeting with Kate Pryde presents a road towards mentoring and direction.
Axo: The Emotion-Wielding Mutant
Real name Alex Luna, Axo is remarkably adept in identifying and controlling emotions. His skin reflects the emotional aurs of people around him, like a mood ring. Axo seeks direction from Kate and Emma since his powers are changing in ways he cannot completely grasp. Though he is connected to emotions, Axo likes solitude and his own company.
Melt: The Invisible and Intangible Mutant
Real name Thao Tran, Melee has defensive qualities of invisibility and intangibility. She is a physically strong mutant, which runs counter to her seeming power insecurity. Kate Pryde is supposed to enable Thao to use her intangibility for offensive tactics, so transforming her defensive force into a deadly weapon.
Novel Costumes for a New Generation
Although the X-Men have always had matching team uniforms, the "From the Ashes" era offers a different approach. Every team member has a different costume that captures their history, power, and personality—just as the Avengers do. Emma Frost is still in her classic all-white outfit, but Axo's goth look is clear from his leather jacket and ripped black jeans. Sporting brilliantly colored costumes with the Exceptional X-Men logo, Kate, Melee, and Bronze highlight their unique styles and young vitality.
The X-Men's Future:
A new generation of mutants is ready to take front stage as the Krakoan Era ends. Along with their mentors Kate Pryde and Emma Frost, bronze, melee, and Axel are poised to be the next generation of X-Men carrying mutantkind into the future.
