Although Harvey's is not the most hated person in Stardew Valley—that accolade usually goes to Morris, Pierre, or Demetrius—most players agree that the doctor is somewhat boring when it comes to romance. He definitely means good, but in terms of his demeanor he is awkward and finds it difficult to strike a conversation with the farmer in the early days of their relationship. Though in relative terms to more dynamic characters like Sebastian, who has a genuine and emotional trajectory over the game, those personal boundaries finally fall away.
Though Harvey is a talented doctor, his attitude and interests do not always fit working on a farm. His Eight Heart event proves that although he first wanted to be a pilot, he let his fear of heights control him instead of following his goals. Though he is reluctant to make the required changes to reach his objectives, one gets the clear sense that he is not happy with his life even in his next Heart Event.
Although there are many of qualified bachelors in Stardew Valley, many feel that Harvey is among the worst and that player now has solid proof to support that view. Though he may be a good marriage candidate, the quiet, socially uncomfortable doctor who is always around to sew Farmers who might die in the mines has a lot to learn about running a house. More suited behind his desk than roughing it amid the animals and crops, Harvey is a gentle soul.
Reddit user talbobagginz highlighted this issue by showing screenshots of Harvey's husband trying to fix some of the crumbling fences but not exactly doing the best job. Although he claims to have spent the morning mending the perimeter, a cursory check finds that he had little done at all, leaving practically every second post damaged and useless. Although he is a doctor and not very helpful in terms of carpentry and construction, it just shows Harvey's incapacity to fit the demanding life his partner leads.
Given that Harvey implies on several times that he has a crush on Maru, it could be advisable to let him go search a relationship with Stardew Valley instead of settling down here. Still, those who do settle down with the doctor have certain benefits ahead. At least he's handy for something; he's been known to make Salmon Dinner, Vegetable Medley, and Crispy Bass on rainy evenings.
