Young Justice Season 5: Is it Happening? Superboy's Actor Weighs In

Young Justice Season 5: Superboy's Actor Offers Hope, But Will It Fly?

Young Justice Season 5: A Hopeful Update (Maybe!) From Superboy

Big news for Young Justice fans! Nolan North (the voice of Superboy/Conner Kent) recently gave us a glimmer of hope regarding a potential fifth season! This follows that cliffhanger ending of Young Justice: Phantoms (season 4) and those massive changes at Warner Bros. Discovery—which many assumed meant the show was completely canceled.

We spoke with North while promoting Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths - Part One.  He emphasized that despite the lack of official announcements; the show itself remains totally uncancelled! In his own words: "Well, we have Warner Brothers people on the Zoom right now, I'm telling you guys, we can do this. We can make another season. I don't know, I'm not privy to that. I know it's a hit. I know fans want it desperately. I don't know, I wish I did. We were so fortunate to get [to do the first two] seasons and three and four. As you know, if you saw season four, Superboy had a big storyline in that and it was so much fun. I love Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, we just have so much fun. They're so passionate about their stories. So fingers crossed that something gets done. Maybe in the future. I don't think there's plans right now. But we always say we're not canceled, we just haven't been picked up yet. That's how I always feel about this show. So nobody's ever definitively said there will no longer be any [more] Young Justice. Now, if tomorrow, they put that article out there, it's our fault you understand that right? [laughs]"

Will Season 5 Actually Happen? The Roadblocks Ahead

A proper ending for Young Justice would be incredible. It’s always been one of DC’s most loved animated shows—yet that past cancellation history is enough to make people deeply anxious about this show being renewed again! We need to look at several points here.

That new Teen Titans movie for the DCU is a major hurdle.  DC Studios might focus on that and thus make a Young Justice season 5 impossible—it might depend on the Titans roster and how much overlap exists, but if that DCU movie doesn't really share those same characters with the existing team then these stories could progress simultaneously. Even if this wasn’t totally assured, that show will definitely exist and even be marketed soon and might not overlap enough.

There’s also the larger aspect that many DC projects continue alongside the DCU's own creation;  that James Gunn has largely left other shows unaffected for now, which creates hope.

Season 4's Ending: Setting the Stage for a Darkseid Showdown?

Young Justice: Phantoms ended with Darkseid getting two new Female FuriesSupergirl (Kara Zor-El)! This massive reveal left an important question: What now? A season 5 would very likely feature Darkseid as the main antagonist! There is very little information that might be able to tell us why it matters but given Darkseid's past role as the recurring big bad; it is expected that this is still an existing possibility, especially if season 5 continues. There's still Mary Marvel's descent into darkness after her transformation into a Fury! That will remain a part of this potential new storyline!

Young Justice Season 5’s Possible Cast: Who Will Return?

A new season most likely brings most of that existing Young Justice team back. A confrontation with Darkseid might include more Apocalypse-related characters and even more villains, generating even higher levels of tension. It’s still speculation;   we don't yet know for sure the story and that would certainly define who would appear as it was stated by North himself in that recent interview. However, given the nature of Young Justice's storylines – those existing ensemble characters and established friendships will almost certainly remain. The possibilities remain intriguing.

Nolan North's comments aren't a guarantee but offer cautious optimism for Young Justice season 5. That existing uncertainty remains as is normal in entertainment production announcements – while no official announcements yet exist this hope, the promise of a larger narrative to finish this animated series really drives this existing community of long-time Young Justice fans!

Darkseid’s impending threat creates lots of exciting story potential; and what will become of that Female Fury Supergirl is something many want to know. However this isn’t confirmed; thus anything we discuss further will need some amount of careful consideration regarding its ultimate validity!
