Miriam Amirault: Archaeologist for Oak Island's Curse
When Miriam Amirault left the History Channel, fans of The Curse Of Oak Island were probably let down. The program centers on the treasure seekers looking for the fabled wealth of Oak Island, situated off Nova Scotia's coast. Under the direction of brothers Marty and Rick Lagina, a team of archaeologists, divers, historians, and other specialized experts investigates the Oak Island riddle in search of a cache of hidden riches buried anywhere on the island.
Beginning in January 2014, The Curse Of Oak Island has seen many educated professionals visit the Lagina brothers to provide their knowledge. Among a small group of archaeologists, Miriam Amirault graced the show. Following her anthropological studies at the University of New Brunswick in Nova Scotia, Canada, near her hometown of Digby, Amirault entered the series in season 8, episode 8, "High on the Bog." Amirault was invited to appear on the show by Acadia University's Dr. Aaron Taylor.
Departure From The Curse of Oak Island Miriam Amirault
Hired by the Lagina brothers, Miriam Amirault arrived at The Curse of Oak Island in season eight. Like her guru Aaron Taylor, Amirault is a professional and accomplished anthropologist and archaeologist. Although the Lagina brothers have a lot of excitement and are clearly interested in treasure hunting, their experience and knowledge of scientific archeology techniques is sometimes lacking, which sometimes results in humorous "worlds collide" events between the hunters and Amirault, who gently attempts to help them understand the science and history of treasure hunting.
Usually the local government stopped filming in the area, thus Amirault and the other archaeologists left the show in season 9. Later on, they returned for season 10's "The Curse of Oak Island," in episode 10, "The Blob," and showed in seven episodes of that season. Miriam left the program once more, though, following the season finale, this time without explanation.
Archaeologists leaving the exhibition is not quite unusual. The Laginas hired archaeologists are real full-time scientists and researchers. They have studies, more degrees under pursuit, and actual digs to visit. Except for a few team members, they are never expected to remain on the show as a full-time job.
Life After The Curse Of Oak Island by Miriam Amirault
Miriam Amirault does not have a social media presence, thus it's not totally clear what the young archaeologist has been doing since she stopped showing up on The Curse of Oak Island. She said on the program several times that she would have ended up at Humber College in Toronto, where she was interested in studying forensics. Miriam most likely wanted to advance her degree as an undergraduate studying anthropology and classical studies.
The most likely reason Amirault left, though, is that she is more interested in her chosen career than she is in being a reality TV star and is simply a private person. Though two seasons were probably sufficient for her, appearing on The Curse of Oak Island could have been a fun sojourn.
