Why Did Lucifer Abandon Rory?
The reason Lucifer left Rory was a result of a Time Travel paradox. Rory, who is Lucifer and Chloe's daughter from the future, jumped back to 2020. She was attempting to confront Lucifer, her father, for leaving her and Chloe to die in the future, while he sought to become God.
If Lucifer remained in Los Angeles with his daughter, this would negate a major event that caused her time-traveling capabilities: the death of Chloe in the future, where Lucifer was also absent. The Devil recognized that to keep his daughter in the timeline and prevent her from being erased, he would have to return to Hell to continue his work in the underworld.
