Why Are Some Simpsons Episodes Banned?
You'd think the wacky world of The Simpsons would have nothing to fear! But there have been a few times when certain Simpsons episodes have been banned! Some were banned in different countries, but one was totally taken out from Disney+!
What's the Deal with Stark Raving Dad?
- Remember the episode when Michael Jackson voiced a character on the show, pretending he was a famous celebrity! They had him voice that crazy dude, Leon Kompowski, who thought he was Michael. That's "Stark Raving Dad" and guess what, Disney+ actually took it down, too.
- The reasons? They said it was because of some very bad things that happened, which is super unfortunate!
Why Are So Many Episodes Banned?
The Simpsons is famous for all those laugh-out-loud moments. It’s also one of the greatest animated series ever, but it’s also gotten into some serious trouble!
- Sometimes, those episodes have been banned because of sensitive things, like in the UK, they didn’t like how "The Cartridge Family" had some gun violence!
- Then there is "Cape Feare"! Some European countries banned it! This one was based on a movie. The whole Nazi reference wasn't cool - some parts about Sideshow Bob being mean, that wasn't cool for kids.
- The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson got a bit too intense because it focused on the Twin Towers, and it was banned after September 11, too. Even some episodes on Disney+ have the Twin Towers cut out! It's crazy, but people had to deal with it, you know?
Is Goo Goo Gai Pan Banned, Too?
- Yes! China banned it for the way it made fun of their culture. This episode had Selma taking a baby, and well, it got taken away by Chinese authorities.
