Who Killed Barney the Dog in "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder"?
Prepare yourself, because the new Netflix series "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" isn't afraid of tragedy. They've killed off Barney the Dog, which is a total heartbreaker.
Wait, Who Is Barney?
That is the awesome dog, owned by the Fitz-Amobi family, that Pip, the main character, hangs out with in the series. It is super clear from the very beginning, Pip is in love with this dog, which makes Barney's death even more heartbreaking.
Why Does Barney Get Murdered?
- Turns out, this happens because the same bad guy (or gal!) that did something wicked to Andie Bell, that murder that everyone is trying to figure out - ends up doing it to the dog. And, the killer is Becca! The sister, of the murdered girl Andie. We know, super messed up!
- Becca really wants to stop Pip's investigation. That’s why she's throwing these awful threats around, which made everyone super nervous in the series.
- So Becca is pretty much going super evil on this dog, taking it away and blackmailing Pip, because she's really afraid Pip will find out the real story! She actually wanted Pip to give up that whole mystery about Andie!
- That might explain why the series didn't show what really happened to Barney - it's implied in both the show and the book! Becca winds up killing the poor dog, even though she claims that she didn’t mean for it to happen.
- It all comes down to how bad Becca wants to protect herself.
What Makes This Scene Different from the Book?
- In the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder book, Becca does kidnap Barney. It is all the same in the series, too. But, she claims it's all a mishap. In the book, she accidentally let's Barney go - then he falls in the river and that's how he dies. This isn't the same for the TV show.
- You see, the producers changed that part - which totally adds some extra drama!
Did the "A Good Girl's Guide to Murder" Series Have a Big Twist?
- This is all just one small piece of that puzzle! There’s another plot going on to figure out who actually killed Andie. And while Pip is figuring it out, they are having some serious problems.
- It looks like the producers will carry over the character development - especially how Pip changed and even became braver after the loss of the dog, so it really does add that heart and emotions.
This series has fans wanting to find out more about Pip Fitz-Amobi. And that scene with Barney's death really pushes her story and even how she handles that bad guy! What a story!
