Though not much is known about *Knives Out 3* beyond the title *Wake Up Dead Man*, Washington seems to be quite valuable for the cast. She is a well-known actress with a broad spectrum of genres and characters under her belt that ought to let her perform any role, whether it suspect, victim, or killer. But the Shonda Rhimes ABC program *Scandal*, in which she portrayed crisis management Olivia Pope for all seven seasons, accumulating 124 episodes between 2012 and 2018, is most likely what made her most renowned.
Among the ensemble of *Scandal* were Henry Ian Cusick, Columbus Short, Darby Stanchfield, Katie Lowes, Guillermo Díaz, Jeff Perry, and Tony Goldwyn. Though she wouldn't win one until 2020 for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for *Live in Front of a Studio Audience: 'All in the Family' and 'Good Times', Washington was nominated for two Emmys for her portrayal of Olivia Pope*. Her television experience beyond those two Emmy-nominated films also includes a main part alongside Delroy Lindo in Hulu's comedy *UnPrisioned*, which has been renewed for season 2. She also recently starred in the miniseries *Little Fires Everywhere* as Mia Warren opposite Reese Witherspoon.
The *Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery* cast now boasts another big name. The second sequel to Rian Johnson's 2019 Whodunit hit *Knives Out*, *Wake Up Dead Man* features Daniel Craig's eccentric private investigator Benoit Blanc. Like the last movies, this third one will have a big all-star cast surrounding the detective pushed into the middle of a fresh murder case. Previous stars appearing in Blanc mysteries include Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, and Janelle Monáe.
Deadline reports that Kerry Washington formally joined *Wake Up Dead Man*. Details regarding the murder Mystery's plot are still securely under wraps outside of Blanc's "most dangerous case yet," hence the role she will be playing is yet unclear. She joins a fast growing cast currently comprising *Sherlock* and *Fleabag* star Andrew Scott, *Challengers* breakout Josh O'Connor, *Priscilla and Civil War's* Cailee Spaeny.
Before joining the *Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery* ensemble, Washington previously starred in other films. Early 2000s saw her debut appearances in *Save the Last Dance*, *Ray*, and *Mr. & Mrs. Smith*, but more recently she had appearances in Quentin Tarantino's *Django Unchained*, Ryan Murphy's *The Prom*, and Paul Feig's *The School for Good and Evil*. She also features in the next Tyler Perry World War II drama *Six Triple Eight*.
