Valhalla Season 3: What Historical Record Says About the Main Characters? Vikings
If Valhalla chooses to be historically correct, here is what will happen to its three main characters: Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). Valhalla is nearing end with its forthcoming third season. Michael Hirst's Vikings TV show's popularity resulted in its follow-up TV series, Vikings: Valhalla, developed by Jeb Stuart, expanding on Set more than a century following the events of Vikings season 6, Vikings: Valhalla centers on fresh individuals whose storylines are entirely apart yet some are connected to those in the main series.
Vikings: Valhalla therefore tracks the conflicts between Christian and pagan Vikings, with Leif, Freydis, and Harald central. Apart from them, Vikings: Valhalla also explores how the Vikings interact with the English via King Canute (Bradley Freegard) and Queen Emma of Normandy (Laura Berlin). Valhalla, like Vikings, has not been totally historically correct (for instance, Leif and Harald never met each other), but if it decides to follow history in its last season, its three main protagonists are ready to go through some fascinating tales.
Leif Will Make Arrival in North America
Leif Erikson is maybe the character most transformed from his real-life counterpart. Leif traveled in Kattegat with his sister Freydis in search of the Christian Viking who mistreated her and left her scar-covered in the form of a cross all over her rear. Leif was already regarded as a leader and adventurer by then, but the program changed some aspects about him. Leif was going to undergo a significant transformation as he unleashed his inner berserkers at the end of Vikings: Valhalla season 1; season 2 did not follow this. Rather, season two had Leif once more trailing Harald on his trip to Constantinople, where he met and fell in love with astronomer Mariam. Leif inherited Mariam's books and residence at the end of Vikings: Valhalla season 2, getting ready for the largest journey of his real-life counterpart and which has now been hinted at in the first teaser video for Vikings: Valhalla Season 3.
Since he was the first European to set foot on mainland America, over half a millennium before Christopher Columbus landed, the real Leif Erikson plays a significant part in history. Explorer Leif Erikson was the brother of Thorvald, Thorstein, and Freydis and son of Erik the Red. Leif's trip to America can proceed in two directions depending on which of the sagas Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 bases on. Leif was blown off course and arrived in Vinalnd, now coastal North America, on his voyage to Greenland to introduce Christianity there in the Saga of Erik the Red. Goran Višnjić will play Erik the Red in Vikings: Valhalla season three. Although Bjarni Herjóldsson arrived at Vinland first among European immigrants in the Saga of the Greenlanders, he never set foot. Fifteen years later, Leif headed out to investigate Vinland, the territory Bjarni had detailed. Leif never returned to America after that first journey, though, according both versions. Vikings: Valhalla could modify the Saga of the Greenlanders with a few tweaks since Vikings proved Floki was the first Viking in America, but the main goal is to get Leif in America at last.
Harald Will Take Over as Norwegian King
Harald's main adversary since Vikings: Valhalla season 1 was his half-brother Olaf (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson), whose goal was to unite Norway under the "banner of Christ," for which he sought Kattegat. Harald also sought the crown of Norway, and as he needed an army to oppose Olaf, his trip to Constantinople in season 2 fit his scheme. Harald and Leif went to Constantinople to sell fur and, with that money, formed an army to take over after his uncle Yaroslav declined to assist him.
Olaf's half-brother Harald Sigurdsson also sought to inherit the Norwegian throne, and he was real. Fortunately for Vikings: although Valhalla's Harald, the actual king of Norway, ruled with Olaf's son, Magnus. Less than a year later, Magnus passed away without an heir, allowing Harald to take over Norway; but, he also crowned himself king of Denmark, despite Magnus deciding Harald would inherit Norway and Sweyn would maintain Denmark. This signaled the start of a battle and further aspirations from Harald that resulted in his being known as "hard ruler," but given Valhalla season 3 is the last season the show will run and will likely cover all of them. If season 3 is based on history, Harald will become king of Norway (more so now that Olaf is dead), but his ambitions to inherit the Danish and subsequently the English throne may not be addressed.
Freydis Will Betrayleif & Their People
Should Vikings: Valhalla season 3 decide to be historically accurate, the most unexpected result will be Freydis. Freydis has thus so far been shown as a strong leader and shieldmaiden, the "last daughter of Uppsala," and the "guard of faith." After executing their repressive leader, Harekr, Freydis opened the temple of Jomsborg to all citizens at the end of Vikings: Valhalla season 2 and seized over the town. Along with Svein, the son of Canute and Queen Aelfgifu, who was traveling with Olaf, Freydis also returned to Kattegat with her baby son and signed a peace pact with Queen Aelfgifu.
Freydis's transformations vary based on the source, much as those of her brother Leif. Agreeing that they would split all profits 50/50, Freydis set out for Vinland with brothers Helgi and Finnbogi in the Saga of the Greenlanders Once there, though, Freydis broke their agreements and the brothers set their own pay-off. Freyis betrayed them by telling her husband the brothers had beaten her and insisted on precise retribution on her behalf once peace was reached. She slaughtered the women in their tent and her husband murdered the brothers as they slept. For anyone who dared warn Leif about her betrayal, Freydis threatened death; even though she lied to him, Leif finally found out the truth. Leif, nevertheless, declined to punish Freydis even though she deserved it; he correctly predicted, though, that her offspring would not thrive. After most of her troops fled, Freydis battled the native people of Vinland in the Saga of Erik the Red. Although it would be startling if Freydis betrayed Leif and his people, if Vikings: Valhalla chooses to follow history, it may change the setting of the betrayal from one of a voyage to Vinland to one of Freydis' struggle against Christianity. Nonetheless, it appears more plausible that Vikings: Valhalla would modify Freydis' narrative from the Saga of Erik the Red, therefore rendering her a feared and revered fighter.
