In what scale does Vhagar stand against Balerion and Drogon?
One of the most well-known creatures in House Of The Dragon, Vhagar has piqued interest about her relative scale to other dragons in the Game of Thrones universe. Originally ridden by Laena Velaryon, Daemon Targaryen's second wife, Aemond Targaryen's son claimed Vhagar later on. Viserys and Alicent. The Dance of Dragons has brought attention to Vhagar's sheer enormity, hence Aemond and Vhagar are a potent team in the war.
Vhagar's scale relative to Balerion?
Among the dragons Aegon the Conqueror and his sister-wives used to seize the Seven Kingdoms was Vhagar. Though never seen alive on film, Balerion, sometimes known as the Black Dread, is generally acknowledged as the largest dragon ever. The shows as well as George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series offer proof of Balerion's great scope. Considered to have come close to Balerion's scale only is Vhagar. Vhagar is the biggest dragon in the world during the House Of The Dragon period since Balerion passed seven years before the series events. The only dragon in House of the Dragon that approaches Vhagar's scale is unclaimed Vermithor.
Vhagar's size relative to Drogon
Possibly the most well-known dragon in Game of Thrones is Drogon, Daenerys Targaryen's mount. Although Drogon did not hatch until more than 150 years after House of the Dragon's chronology, his relative weight to Vhagar is fascinating. Though still dwarfed by Vhagar, Drogon was big for his age and exceeded his siblings Viserion and Rhaegal. Less than half the size of Vhagar, Drogon in Game of Thrones was rather smaller than Daemon's Caraxes from House of the Dragon. Vhagar thus is far larger than Drogon. Drogon's smaller scale is probably related to dragon history in his day. The terrible effects the war had on the Targaryen's creatures caused dragons to shrink in population following the Dance of Dragons.
Can any Dragons Match Vhagar from HOTD?
For most of season 1 and the first half of season 2, Vhagar was House of the Dragon's largest creation. Season 2 brought some dragons, though, that would fit her size. One such dragon is Vermithor, King Jaehaerys' dragon, Viserys' grandfather. Hugh Hammer rode Vermithor in House of the Dragon season 2, after riderless in season 1. Though not as big as Vhagar, Vermithor poses more threat than smaller dragons like Caraxes or Syrax. Though it is never mentioned during the Dance of Dragons, Fire and Blood, the book House of the Dragon is based on, notes a wild dragon called Cannibal, almost as large as Vhagar. Smaller than Vermithor, another claimed dragon is Sheepstealer; it was claimed by a dragonseed in the book. Either Nettles or Rhaena Targaryen will claim Sheepstealer in House of the Dragon, bringing yet another reptile creature who might be able to oppose Vhagar.
