James Kennedy , a prominent figure on “Vanderpump Rules,” is under intense media coverage due to some legal trouble he faced in December 2024. Along with legal difficulties a spotlight has also been placed on the way his past struggles with alcohol addiction is resurfacing.
Kennedy was arrested in Burbank on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence in mid-December 2024. Details stated police responded to reports of an argument with the alleged incident involving claims of throwing his girlfriend to the ground though she showed no injuries from it. These events would highlight the complicated personal struggles of this popular star and are often talked about throughout his personal relationships on camera.
Following his arrest James took a step back from public view but has now used his platform to discuss his personal struggles with sobriety which have included sharing how important the help he was given by others through AA (Alcoholics Anonymous). This public acknowledgment has now been made as fans see his path forward.
Ally Lewber, who is the girlfriend of James Kennedy at the time has remained out of public view but is often brought up with mentions by fans. This series of challenges in their private life have become public during filming which has created added layers to all of the complicated events taking place.
Lewber did however post online about how thankful she was for all the kind messages she received after what happened. In addition a report also mentioned her stepping away to deal with the event. She mentioned her support as she takes time to navigate.

Despite all the media reports and scrutiny there was mention that Kennedy desires to reconcile the current relationships, if he chooses that path which relies heavily on a successful focus on long-term sobriety. It seems the importance of him becoming healthy has given a great focus by those who care and know him.
James did publicly acknowledge he was making time for personal growth while trying to be a better more present individual for those close to him. In addition to seeking treatment his new view is creating focus towards how he will lead his life with more care.
Kennedy’s journey is not new within the show as his character has had a roller coaster type of dynamic through his career on camera with the program often showcasing the peaks and valleys of addiction along with intense personal and professional situations.
The struggles of maintaining sobriety are an aspect which was documented by Kennedy through previous seasons as his broken engagement pushed him back down that route. After meeting Ally his path took him back into that direction but he also has expressed in many forms that the steps forward need to be real and not a way to gloss over what is actually happening.
