Release Timeline of Bridgerton Season 4 Attended by Showrunner
Showrunner of Bridgerton Season 4 addresses the release schedule of the show. Currently under progress is Bridgerton season 3; Netflix will premiere the second half of the season tonight, June 13. Audiences so far are paying close attention to the third season; one steamy carriage scene really interests them. Based on performance on the streaming site thus far, the first half of Bridgerton season 3 ranks no. 1 on the Netflix Global Top 10 chart during its first week on the service.
The shocking time jump at the end of Bridgerton season 3, episode 8 virtually spans almost a year, pushing the period drama farther in the future.
How soon might the fourth Bridgerton season arrive?
Confirmed all the way back in April 2021, during the filming of season 2, was bridgerton Season 4. Though season 2 had not yet been released, Netflix at that point stated that Bridgerton would be returning for seasons 3 and 4. Given the confirmation, Brownell and her team have more time with the development of season 4 since the story arc could be sketched out in line with season 3 and the writing could be well underway.
Historically, Bridgerton experiences at least one year and change between seasons. While season 2 followed just over a year later, in March 2022, bridging season 1 came out in December 2020. Released in May 2024, Season 2 spent nearly two years on the platform once more. Should Bridgerton season 4 continue at this rate, the earliest viewers will see the show in summer 2025; yet, it could run as far as 2026.
Season 4 update from Bridgerton Showrunner Jess Brownell
Based on an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Showrunner for Bridgerton Jess Brownell divulges on when season 4 will premiere. Brownell projected that she and the rest of the Bridgerton team are "on a two-year pace" to premiere season 4. Regarding their level of development in the process, Browell said that scripts are "towards the end with the writers room season" and are now being produced. Brownell guaranteed that they are "trying to speed up" while also preserving the caliber of the series. See the complete Brownell quote below:
Keep asking; I have almost slipped a few times and maybe I will slip. The stuff we are writing excites me much. With the writers room season, we are nearing the finish and the scripts reflect this. And I consider it to be some of my finest work as well as the best from my writers room. We have simply truly bonded and are firing on all cylinders so I am excited for fans to see what we have.
Though they take eight months to film and subsequently must be edited, we are trying to try and put the seasons out more quickly. We then have to dub them into every language. The writing takes a very long time as well, thus we are sort of on a two-year pace and we are trying to accelerate but somewhere in that spectrum.
The Triumph of Bridgerton Season 3
But the great popularity of Bridgerton season 3 makes the expediency of the season 4 more possible. Brownell herself acknowledged that efforts to increase production are underway, partly in line with Netflix as the streamer might be devoting more time and money to Bridgerton. Other major projects Netflix has on schedule are Wednesday season 2 and Stranger Things season 5, although given the popularity of Bridgerton season 3, the crew might see its timeline speed forward.
