What Happens To The Emorys In Them Season 1?
"Them" - it's one of those Amazon Prime Video horror anthologies that you'll find really, really disturbing. You are about to dive into a show about racism, trauma and ghosts. But what does this mean for the Emory family?
A Super Spooky Show?
- You can really say they get tossed into a total nightmare. They move into East Compton for a new start but get slammed with a haunting haunted house. But it's way more complex than just a spooky place.
- The horror really is in that period of time too - 1950s America and they are struggling against all this racial injustice. That was the hard truth back then.
- This show makes you question what's real and what's not real. There are evil spirits lurking in the shadows that come up a whole lot and really mess with their heads!
- The season finale really does a wild switch and ends with a fight for survival. They gotta face all of their demons - ghosts AND real people - to get through this and make it out alive.
So what about The Emorys? Are they safe?
It is not that simple! Even though the Emorys are able to face the bad spirits and make it through all that terror, things get messed up for Them, big-time, especially with how things end up.
Was Season 1 the end?
No, they had a season 2 called "Them: The Scare" which changed up a lot - from the setting to even the main story!
- This was really about the family going through trauma, as the horrors just don't let them be! They have this crazy haunted house! They struggle for years trying to get away from this East Compton area.
- You get to know those Emorys and see all of their battles - with the supernatural and real-life, bad situations.
- It was a very hard, but kind of realistic, approach to racism which they showed.
If you are into that spooky horror anthology stuff - this is one to keep on your radar. It will leave you with a whole lot to think about and might even make you a little creeped out.
They do really push things with all those horror elements, the psychological thriller stuff. Even if the show seems super dark, it gives a super real picture of how race affects people.
