The View , a long-running daytime talk show is expanding its programming to include weekends with a New show named “ The Weekend View ”. This will bring their long form style of discussing various topics to a different audience across new time slots.
The new show is set to begin Streaming on Saturday January 11th. The 30-minute episodes will be available on ABC News Live . With recurring airtimes over the weekend, the show uses multiple platforms to gain more viewership.
New episodes will stream Saturday morning at 7:30 AM ET with a continued rotation throughout the weekend schedule giving the talk show a wider range of broadcasting hours. This expansion gives many more accessibility to a fan base that already enjoy seeing this panel.
The show is hosted by “The View” Friday panel which includes Joy Behar, who will moderate along with co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro. Their established roles and rapport are maintained while showcasing their talent and personalities in their roles.
By using the Friday panel they are maintaining the dynamic that people have already become accustom to. It creates more opportunities for discussion without making a large change in the show structure while also being fresh enough to seem new to viewers.
“The Weekend View” will explore topics that focus more on popular culture and lighter topics rather than more heavier political news. New “Hot Topics” segments will be created with discussions from segments from the podcast “Behind The Table” as well.
With “GMA Life” as an inspiration the new format of “The Weekend View” is set to use a lighter tone on the weekends while still having a structured form using the same framework as seen during weekday editions. All while covering major stories that have come to the surface the weekend content will keep an accessible method of delivery.
Along with the topics discussed in the show it also adds in segments that feature Brian Teta and other co-hosts during podcast episodes that create an experience that isn't available on the weekday shows which offers the best of two worlds together.
“The Weekend View” is produced by the same team that also makes “The View”, with Brian Teta as Executive Producer and Robin Hommel as Executive Broadcast producer. They will take care of direction and management that will keep the standards of previous programming up to par.
ABC news executives have shown support for this new project hoping it continues to expand its outreach on various streaming services while also delivering through traditional forms as well. They note that the team has been very successful at engaging through multiple forms which is helping to show a new path forward for all related projects as they try to reach viewers from all backgrounds.
"The Weekend View" partnered with RoC Skincare in an agreement to be the sole sponsor of this program which highlights the advertising success as ABC News Live gets its first integrated brand deal. This also will help bring brands to see more options within different content creation while showing growth and influence of the show.
The expansion to weekends is seen to enhance “The View’s” engagement strategy. Viewers are said to like the personality of the hosts. This also shows how the network wants to expand into the streaming landscape.
The expanded shows give a new way to extend content by sharing information and a different type of format from weekdays while offering content more easily across more avenues as people have time to rest on their weekends.
“The Weekend View” can be found on ABC News Live as well as ABC owned streaming channels while the show's management also considers expanding in many other formats based on viewing demographics. ABC News Live itself has also had a very high success rate with streaming more than 600 million hours. They hope the content that will be on other video on demand platforms will also have large engagement by using strategic plans to expand the message across all demographics.
