We are talking super serious stuff here. The Umbrella Academy in Season 4 revealed how these mysterious particles, Marigold and Durango are more powerful than you can imagine! But it takes some really tough brainpower to understand them!

Where Did These Mysterious Particles Come From?

Think back to Season 1 and you'll remember Reginald Hargreeves, The Umbrella Academy's dad - he was totally an alien. And guess what - so was his wife, Abigail. And Season 4 took us way back to their home planet, with a whole bunch of wild new clues! Abigail had this amazing discovery - she invented the Marigold particle! You know, the one that gives the Hargreeves siblings all those cool powers! And while making Marigold, something really messed up happened! That Durango particle followed!

So what is the story behind these mysterious particles?

Those two particles were closely connected, and as the show reveals, they weren't good news, at all!

The Marigold, this is what gave 43 kids powers and also led to all the wacky craziness, the apocalypses that the Hargreeves are stuck in - those end of the world stories!
When Marigold mixes with Durango, bam! The universe starts to explode. Talk about messed up.
That big explosion - that's what they call "The Cleanse," a huge power-washing that starts to undo those broken timelines and restore things back to normal!

How Do the Marigold and Durango Particles Work?

They have a super close link that leads to a major catastrophe - but what exactly is that link? It seems as if it was unintentional that these two things happened!

Those two particles were connected. But the way Durango got activated in the new timeline was pretty sneaky!
Remember, they needed to keep Jennifer, who carried Durango in Season 4 and those special Marigold particles, apart at all costs! Because the two have this big boom reaction, with one ending the other!
The way things happened in Season 4 is that the Cleanse actually disfigured Jennifer and Ben as they touch and end up combining their power.

Are Those Marigold Particles Gone Now?

It looks that way! That Cleanse thing, the way it took over everything - it even destroyed those Marigold particles, and everything gets reset! There was even that cool little clue, a hint at the end, that the Hargreeves have left those marigold particles but we can guess that these particles, were destroyed in the events, along with those characters - including the bad Marigold ones too!
