The Valar and Eldar are important parts of Middle-earth lore, though their origin is hidden deep in the Lord of the Rings lore and Tolkien legendarium! Fans may find these concepts come up in Amazon's The Rings of Power.
These are a type of being in The Rings of Power who play a huge part in Middle-earth's formation. These powerful entities (also called Valar and their roles) are "Ainur," powerful spirits who were brought forth by the ultimate creator Eru Ilúvatar, which means they are considered his "Children." But there was a power struggle amongst them, with the being Melkor as a central antagonist!
Eru, the creator, essentially helped the Valar bring existence to the world! They each had their influence as they used their powers to make Arda (the universe) come together through what was known as the "Great Song" to craft the entire Creation of Middle-earth, which led to the initial forms of Elves, Men, and others who were considered the "Children of Ilúvatar"!
The Rings of Power show how the Valar retreated to Valinor! It became their home. But it was under attack by Melkor. Eventually, they created "Two Trees" to bring light to Valinor, after Melkor destroyed their two powerful lamps, the source of their original light, that stood at the edge of Arda.
The Eldar are a special group! They are those Elves who make it to Valinor, to stay and be closer to the Valar! While the Valar took steps to help them, especially to be shielded from the powerful Melkor, the Valar also used their powers to mentor the elves who would later go on to become legendary in Lord of the Rings lore!
The Second Age of Middle-earth is explored, which brings forth powerful beings! The Rings of Power will showcase the origins of Mordor and explore a story set long before the time of the Third Age (Lord of the Rings). The Rings of Power dElves deeper into events in the First Age of Middle-earth, especially exploring events before the time of the Elves.
