The Rings of Power Season 2 Review: A Redemption Arc?

Fans of "The Lord of the Rings", and those that haven't even delved into this fantastical world have had the chance to watch the "Rings of Power" series! It was recently renewed for a season three, however, not everyone has loved it.

The Amazon Prime series took its place with season one, releasing on September 2, 2022, but those that watched criticized it! However, now there is hope.

If you haven't gotten a chance to see season two yet!

The Rings of Power Season 2 is Better Than Season 1:

Many think this was the first season should have been. The series, in this new adaptation, brings to life the amazing story and some memorable characters!

While fans weren't all that thrilled with season one. You see, the show got into the lore and brought forth the history, the characters from J.R.R. Tolkien's works. The characters didn't feel very exciting.

You're in for a huge, incredible new season. The writing style, characterization and the way this incredible season got going. The season has those big plot moments that every fan was wanting.

Major Improvements

Season one did set up the show! It had a great deal of those major story points but if anything it may have felt slow. It even tried to go back in time to establish what the Second Age was about in the world of Middle-earth.

While this season really brings things to life, by diving deeply into those special moments!

And this is something that may get even better as "The Rings of Power" progresses through these seasons. Fans of the show seem to be hoping this new take makes up for all those flaws.

  • This season's major shift. Fans felt like season two was better because of a couple of things: a quicker, smoother and faster pacing.
  • You've got iconic characters! For those who haven't read Tolkien's works but wanted to! "Gil-galad, Galadriel," and "Elrond," the great heroes and personalities that have become memorable.

A Different Perspective:

Fans were really looking for this new take! They've always loved the characters from "The Rings of Power" but not always had the chance to see the true depths of what they are. "Season 2" really gives you a chance to look back in time, especially in the case of "Elrond!" Galadriel.

Sauron's rise really comes together, and the fact that this villain makes an epic comeback. The show gives us the best of this great story! It even seems that it's not just "The Rings of Power." that comes through in this season but those epic tales of "The Lord of the Rings.". The movie gives a unique vision to the whole plot, the direction they went in.

A Story About Power Rings & Sauron

There are a lot of aspects to the "Rings of Power" series! Season 2 gives viewers exactly what they wanted, which may come as a relief! This is a story about "The Rings of Power". The season takes its place as it was intended. That also means we get a sense of who Sauron is, why this character was so pivotal and how he slowly became more of a threat.

  • Season one had a few instances of the return of "Sauron." but it didn't do enough to get people involved in this truly compelling plot.

It seems the show's writers decided that it was time for season two to show the entire force of the villain, who created a big impact. They even had him transform to create "Annatar," or "the Lord of Gifts."

The series has given fans this incredible, unique moment in a long time!

  • They took the show in a really unique direction.
  • A scene in the forge is incredibly awesome. They showcase some of the amazing events that set the stage for "The Lord of the Rings!"

This is an excellent move for the story. The plot seems to be one that viewers might never forget.

Controversy

Season two has gone down in a pretty significant way, with viewers who have a love for the characters!

  • A lot of excitement! Season two really had everyone's attention, but also brought out a whole new wave of discussion about canon.
  • It all began with a memorable scene.
  • It was a scene between Elrond and Galadriel and their feelings for one another.
  • In this special scene, these two really made a statement!

This was really off for some viewers. And a moment they probably weren't really anticipating, or didn't want! But there was a much greater story to tell, because those in the "Lord of the Rings" universe might be able to connect these details to how Elrond ultimately went on to marry Galadriel's daughter, but still!

It certainly made people's hearts skip a beat, which ultimately did change things as a lot of viewers loved how well-written Season 2 was, the series is set to do amazing things in "Season 3!"
