Mamoru Oshii directed 1985 Japanese animated science fiction Angel's Egg. The film centers on a little child exploring a post-apocalyptic planet and finds a large egg. She raises it as though it were her own child. A series of fantastical and mystical events follows from this.
A 4K remaster, recently leaked, marks Angel's Egg, a cult classic film by Mamoru Oshii of Ghost in the Shell, 40th anniversary celebration. Oshii is also managing production.
Though not as well-known as Oshii's other works, the movie has kept a loyal following over the years, hence there is much buzz about the announcement.
Though the remaster's release date is yet unknown, this is fantastic news to have confirmation that it will be distributed in America.

A recent statement from GKIDS indicates that Angel's Egg will be released in theaters in North America sometime in 2025 with a home release to follow. Angel's Egg's 4K remaster is fantastic, and fortunately, American viewers won't miss out.
