The Acolyte's Witches of Brendok Borrow A Power From The Clone Wars
Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: The Acolyte episode 7.
The Acolyte's witches of Brendok are not just a bunch of random bad guys. They've got a special trick up their sleeves—a Force Power that's been seen before, but not in live-action until now. And it's a bit creepy!
The Coven Of Brendok Possess A Unique Force Transportation Power
In the seventh episode of The Acolyte, Jedi Master Sol and Padawan Torbin have a run-in with the witches of Aniseya's coven on Brendok. Aniseya and Koril use the Force to teleport, turning into black smoke for a short time. Koril uses this to escape Sol and Torbin, but Aniseya's teleporting shocks Sol so much he ends up impaling her. This same power made its modern canon debut in The Clone Wars and has been seen in other Star Wars stories since then, with witches often using it. It's almost like a witch-exclusive club for teleportation!
Star Wars' New Force Power Is Lifted Straight From The Clone Wars
Remember Mother Talzin from The Clone Wars? She uses a similar teleportation power in the episode "Massacre," turning into green ichor instead of black smoke. The Nightsister Merrin in the Jedi video games also uses this ability to pass through Imperial force fields. It seems like witches are all about those teleportation skills!
The modern Star Wars canon has introduced new witch clans, such as the Mountain Clan of Dathomir, which probably took inspiration from the Singing Mountain Clan in the Legends continuity. Guess what? They can teleport too! It's a common witch trait.
Teleportation is a rare Force ability in the Legends continuity, and usually it's dark side users like Sith Lords who can do it.
The mysterious Bendu, who debuted in Star Wars Rebels, is all about those esoteric powers. He can teleport, too, like a mix of Jedi, Sith, and witches. He used this power when Grand Admiral Thrawn attacked Atollon. So it looks like the power of teleportation isn't just for the dark side. But Sol's reaction to it in The Acolyte shows it's not something Jedi do.
The Acolyte episode 7 is now available to watch. The final episode premieres Tuesday at 9 PM ET on Disney+.
