Suits final two seasons are widely considered the show’s worst, but there is one thing that the series did better after the exits of Mike Ross and Rachel Zane from the story. Mike and Rachel’s marriage was a turning point for Suits, after which the show had to essentially start over without three of its main characters. Without Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, and Gina Torres, Suits became a very different show that often struggled to find its new tone. Suits Season 8 introduced new characters and brought a different dynamic into the firm now called Zane Specter Litt.
It can be argued that Mike and Rachel’s marriage should have been Suits’ finale. Apart from a couple of storylines, especially Harvey and Donna’s relationship, there was not much left for Suits to do with its main characters. This is why seasons 8 and 9 were not as well received as the other seven, not to mention how the absences of Jessica, Mike, and Rachel completely changed the dynamic of the show. As flawed as Suits’ final two seasons were, they did one thing surprisingly better than the show’s first seasons.
The biggest problem with Suits’ original intro is that it only featured Harvey and Mike. The dynamic between Harvey Specter and Mike Ross was indeed the heart and soul of Suits, but the show was much more than that. The fact that characters like Louis or Jessica were never included in the intro always felt odd, especially as the show went on. Suits struggled without Mike, but at least the new intro got to celebrate the entire main cast. Replacing an iconic, catchy intro is never easy, but Suits Season 8 managed to do it.
Suits' new intro was much more dynamic than the previous one, highlighting several characters as their actors’ names were presented in the credits. The second intro starts with Harvey Specter but also features the silhouettes of Louis, Donna, Katrina, Robert, Alex, and Samantha before ending with Harvey’s silhouette front and center as the name of the firm goes through multiple changes. The new intro showcased all the main characters while also honoring the show’s history.
Following the announcement that Patrick J. Adams was not going to return for Suits season 8, it was clear that the show was going to need a new intro. Suits’ original intro sequence was entirely focused on Harvey Specter and Mike Ross and followed the two character’s mourning routine as they went to work in their different styles. Harvey and Mike were the only characters to appear in the original intro, which ended with their paths converging in front of the firm’s building. Without Mike, Suits’ intro would not make sense and would have to be changed.
Suits' theme song was kept, but everything else changed. Fortunately, these changes were for the better. Suits season 8’s intro was much more dynamic than the previous one, highlighting several characters as their actors’ names were presented in the credits. The second intro starts with Harvey Specter but also features the silhouettes of Louis, Donna, Katrina, Robert, Alex, and Samantha before ending with Harvey’s silhouette front and center as the name of the firm goes through multiple changes.
