Star Trek: Seven of Nine's 'Legacy' - A Missed Opportunity

Star Trek fans have been waiting a long time for Seven of Nine to get her own show. But while Star Trek: Picard seemed like it might give fans exactly what they wanted, this plan never quite got off the ground!

The Star Trek Franchise's Big Missed Opportunity

It appears that Jeri Ryan and Seven of Nine are two icons to have been in the series, as her arrival in Star Trek: Picard (season 1) created major excitement. This led some people to believe a new series was on its way!

The original idea Paramount+ had back then, it was the plan to get the franchise back on track. The thought was, to showcase some iconic characters who were never able to really become big in this awesome sci-fi universe.

It made some sense to those of us who are huge Star Trek fans!

Star Trek: Picard Season 3 And Legacy's Potential

And for the fans who had hoped that Star Trek: Legacy would show us just what we have all been dreaming about!

It looked like they finally got what they were hoping for in Star Trek: Picard, specifically season 3 (released in 2023).

The Star Trek universe has seen such change over time.

Seven of Nine stepped into the role of captain of the USS Titan-A! It was truly awesome to see. It wasn't too surprising as well to see how much this powerful character could lead others and take command!
After a remarkable showing of leadership and incredible power "Star Trek: Picard ended its run on the streaming platform Paramount+ and left us with a fantastic storyline about her as she leads the ship now called the USS Enterprise-G.

Those who followed her through all of her journey, saw a truly great, strong, powerful, and moving evolution. It seems it was all about Seven of Nine!

The Star Trek Franchise Had Plans In 2018

Before Star Trek: Picard made its mark on the streaming universe! A series featuring Seven of Nine was almost released!

That might sound strange, but that's not all.

In an interview back in 2018! Fans of Star Trek were in awe! Jonathan Del Arco said something surprising!

The role that Del Arco plays! He appears in Star Trek: The Next Generation! This iconic, classic show was the first that really highlighted a very particular version of the "Borg"! That made his character super iconic!

Jonathan del Arco discussed that it might have happened in 2018 if the team had not gotten Patrick Stewart to take the role. There might have been a chance!
If he hadn't said yes to the role, he was hoping to work with Jeri Ryan on a "Borg-based" series. They were in talks and planned to move forward with a story set a few centuries into the future! The series might have gotten greenlit. The potential for Seven of Nine to shine was truly a remarkable idea, as the show may have never had Picard in it. It's not just some casual meeting of great minds!

A Major Star Trek Disappointment

That moment for Seven of Nine fans was one for the ages! However, it seems there is another time and that is now! Seven of Nine was in Star Trek: Picard (season 3). It was truly remarkable! Even a more iconic figure of the franchise John de Lancie's Q was in it.

After a major ending with an appearance by John de Lancie's Q, there seemed to be more stories to tell and "Legacy" could have happened, it seemed. If there is something that fans, like ourselves love it's getting another chance to get back to a show we enjoyed!

The cast of the show were all in place! What might have been an awesome part for those who followed "Star Trek". Legacy would have given us:

A whole new adventure from Seven of Nine, she really showed fans why her character was so great! There was a story in the works! It appeared she was facing major conflict in the "Alpha Quadrant. An area where many other Borg have faced challenges.

It is super hard to tell, but "Legacy" could be a long time coming. Even though it appears this was the big thing that Paramount was pushing for! However, it looks like this will just need a lot more support, as other "Star Trek" shows, like "Lower Decks", "Prodigy", and "Discovery" had to take the back seat, due to financial challenges and other issues that impacted how many stories were released. The whole series now seems to have gone into this weird, unknown place as we head into the future!

Fans are really hoping that these series return to screens as soon as possible. "Legacy" might still come! However, we're looking into the future!

Why We Should Hope For Legacy's Return

It may be true! Some great, strong Star Trek characters came to the scene. And we all know there are some who have really had some epic moments! But if there was one character who rose from being in conflict with their own captain. To one who embraces this whole new era in "Star Trek," that's no other than Seven of Nine!

This is really a must-have. She has found new purpose after starting off with such struggles, and yet, the future seems filled with amazing possibility!

We are now hoping to see "Star Trek" deliver what fans want and a new show that really makes the most of the world. With its amazing stories. We've seen all that she has gone through and her character is something special! There have been some pretty fantastic moments.

Seven of Nine made an incredible leap, making the biggest change. It was from a Borg to a human! Her journey on "Voyager" showed how she really came into her own as she came to grips with who she was, embracing being a human.
Then it got even better when "Picard was introduced!
We see her develop and gain this sense of strength as she became a Fenris Ranger! She did something super heroic as well after being so close to that which was so threatening, showing the strength of this individual!

What may make "Star Trek: Legacy, a reality is that we got a glimpse! We are more than ready to see just how amazing Seven of Nine can be!

There's no doubt! It's a remarkable achievement, in Star Trek, to show that characters are allowed to change over the course of these epic shows! Star Trek is very well-known for this. Fans are just hoping to see "Legacy" bring its charm. They were hoping it would take shape as a truly special moment in this cinematic universe!

With a show so full of hope for what it could mean, "Legacy" is a story for all the ages that would give audiences a new opportunity to be thrilled about a beloved franchise and watch as this beloved "Star Trek character comes back in her big role, showing a character in full command and power!
