Star Wars: Skeleton Crew a popular series on Disney+ may or may not have a second season depending on a number of factors. While the creators have many ideas the streaming figures don't create a promising outcome.
Skeleton Crew a series directed by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford has received praise from many fans and critics because of its fresh perspective to the universe while providing an Amblin like style of adventure. The story centers on kids that get lost and how they navigate an expansive Star Wars galaxy to try and get back home. It showcases the familiar world with new storytelling aspects which many have found refreshing.
Nielsen data suggests the show has failed to reach the typical level of viewers when compared to past releases. initial view rates ranked as one of the lowest in the Star Wars series that have aired making it seem as though not as many were aware of the shows release. The initial release numbers caused concern for what it means for a second season of this program.
Despite streaming issues the creators of “Skeleton Crew” say that season two is something that they have already put thought into. They have created the story to have a satisfying beginning middle and end but if more people desired additional content they would enjoy expanding that aspect.
The creators claim they are always brainstorming ways of what the kids would go through should the show be greenlit for another series. Their long term thinking takes them through many different routes to potentially continue the story. It will continue to focus on the characters individual stories while exploring how the children would grow in the series.
Despite having a second season possibly removed some of the characters might show up in different shows or movies across this series as they continue to make these new worlds in Star Wars . This would give an additional view of character growth and show more of a background to previous choices. The writers of the series also mention their desire to see what a future would be for these particular kids and in other shows.
Some possibilities might be to feature some characters in “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka”. As the core actors in “Skeleton Crew” are kids their age in the coming future could be something they would consider. It's always possible to see a return and these plans make their stories open to all possibilities in future film projects.
The series will have to overcome slow streaming starts in order for a second season to happen. Lucas Films has shown with previous programs, that a second season is never always a guarantee which is the major challenge for the series to keep moving.
