Silo, the dystopian drama series on Apple TV+, has garnered much praise from all who tune into the series and this interest shows as viewers look ahead to the third season.
Silo was renewed for two additional seasons making the future secured for viewership who have made the first two a popular selection. These upcoming seasons may be filmed at the same time with four total planned to see the story come to a proper ending based on a pre planned format. The adaptation was set out to follow all the books.
It has been set out that Season one was adapted from Hugh Howey’s book “Wool”. This second season continues to cover “Wool” with some additions that separate from the source material. The third and fourth seasons will adapt his other works “Shift” and “Dust.” Many of these elements are coming together to make a very cohesive plan that follows a natural format.
Rebecca Ferguson as Juliette Nichols plays a key role in this series. The story focuses on her experience as a sheriff seeking truth behind her people's underground structure. The original story suggests that she takes on less of a role, show runners have stated the show would continue to feature her.
There was concern on whether the series would take a new path based on "Shift’s" unique prequels format which shifts time. But to make the show relatable to a larger base many adjustments were made to where main character Juliette’s timeline continues to be involved through season three , keeping the format on its current time line.
The story elements show where the series will explore both the origins of the silos and its structure's management as a new plot line. Many plot lines from past episodes are shown again showing what is to come.
The new format of exploring how it came to be also gives insight into those in Silo 40 which is mentioned multiple times in the book series, offering a glimpse into the creation of it all along with many possible new characters. Season 3 promises answers into this aspect of the greater plan which had many questions throughout both seasons. This shows more into the complexity of this show and will give a variety of plot lines as time continues.
Beyond just the familiar settings in silos 17 and 18 this also explores how communities adapt in those very dire times using each setting to help define character motivations. A main highlight is the exploration outside of silo 18 after Juliette ventures out to other areas creating new dimensions for where the show can go from this new point. The future of the series is based upon each character which in turn allows a lot of complexity for those following along.
Season two has ended with major plot points that make sense from what was showcased while also being separated from the original text. This creates more interest and anticipation into how certain key points will be addressed and shows a great commitment to keeping things thrilling and unknown in every new release.
At the conclusion of the second season there are indications that Juliette did survive the events and will play a major role. She seeks to rescue her allies and explore the larger narrative outside her Silo. There are also potential questions about her physical state given all she has experienced making this a highlight of interest to see how that transpires.
Lukas Kyle makes some shocking discoveries and becomes knowledgeable about "the safeguard" that has the potential to impact the entirety of the world in “Silo” including the algorithm itself and that this plot line will be expanded upon showing the depth of control which is being had and how those who have an upper hand are dealing with the complexities around the whole concept.
The production has a well known process of maintaining long filming cycles as is made aware. Therefore Season 3 release may not be soon and can be compared to past timing of 1 and 2 of when those release were for audiences to better understand their unique development periods for high end media quality.
Even though there are set differences show runners are dedicated to using the book series as their primary guide . However it is mentioned that they have added an unique format by not adapting page for page but using specific points while maintaining the over arching concept and original view for future viewing possibilities. The story seems to add elements while retaining core concepts in the overall structure of it's foundation. This shows what may come from future plot points based upon their unique method of delivery.
The show is planning to continue adapting material from each novel giving a four season long series at this point and it also gives hints toward the possibility of more content given the new additions of expanded story lines and content coming from the show's writer and creator.
With Hugh Howey working on an new prequel series there is speculation and excitement that there will be spin offs. While focusing on previously unseen siloes with original characters who bring a whole new lens to this science fiction world this possibility still remains a highly requested concept that could have some basis with some characters from earlier material.
