Shaw Family Spinoff: The Fast & Furious Movie Fans Demand!

Forget Hobbs & Shaw 2! The REAL Fast & Furious spinoff We Need!

Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw Deserves His Own Family Drama!

Jason Statham has already been in five Fast and Furious movies as Deckard Shaw. But there's a seriously awesome Shaw family spinoff waiting to happen—and it needs to happen now, with only a minimal number of appearances within the franchise and the increasing uncertainty involving which characters might actually show up in future productions. After going from villain to somewhat of a begrudging ally in The Fate of the Furious, this guy needs another opportunity! It showcases a compelling storyline with significant levels of audience engagement for the viewers.

Shaw's redemption in The Fate of the Furious was controversial as heck, given how it completely retconned his supposed murder of Han (which only got fixed in F9), however it generated a highly profitable storyline for The Fate of the Furious – that amazing Hobbs & Shaw pairing. The tension and drama associated with this pair (especially given Dwayne Johnson’s feud with Vin Diesel) created a storyline that ultimately proved its value and was what led to an unexpected but wholly successful spinoff.

Time for a Shaw Family Affair: Why It's a No-Brainer

Let's back up a bit. Luke Evans' Owen Shaw was the first Shaw we met!  He totally ruled his crew in Fast & Furious 6—total opposite of Dom TorettoOwen treated people like disposable pawns. His injuries later caused a very dramatic emergence of Deckard, who initially sought vengeance for what was done to Owen; thus, establishing this new and unique connection to that family which further generates dramatic intrigue.

Then we met Helen Mirren's Magdalene Shaw! Her presence is awesome enough in and of itself, but introducing the Shaw matriarch adds so much! That family craziness has even bigger appeal, too – they are almost exactly like the Fast and Furious family itself. Their unique interactions added tremendous intensity, which ultimately affected how people interacted with that cast!

Plus, we met Vanessa Kirby's Hattie Shaw in Hobbs & Shaw!  Between the amazing actors (Jason StathamLuke EvansHelen Mirren, and Vanessa Kirby) the storyline possibilities—it's pure gold!

The Fate of the Furious: A Hilariously Epic Shaw Family Moment

The Shaw family already showed they can rock the big screen in The Fate of the Furious. That whole airplane scene (Owen and Deckard teaming up to kill Cipher's people, and then rescuing Dom’s son) was fantastic. Hilarious. Intense. We only see this once however. Seriously, how could you NOT make more? That’s the perfect showcase for their abilities, highlighting all their various personalities; a brilliant interaction for the audience and it demonstrates a major oversight – we were introduced to a massively engaging new plot only for this opportunity to go completely wasted! The lack of recognition is particularly disappointing.

Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs also returns recently in Fast X's post-credits scene— his first time in that main storyline since 2017—further emphasizing those tensions created before in relation to Hobbs and Shaw and what might happen with those lingering connections with these related, individual characters.

What's Next for Deckard Shaw? A Final Act in the Furious Saga?

Deckard showed up briefly in F9 and Fast X—even meeting Han! But he goes off to do his own thing leaving those huge open possibilities.

The Shaw family becomes even more interesting after Dante Rayes’ actions in Fast X. Everyone's threatened – it looks like Jason Statham’s Deckard is back in the mix for Fast X Part II—which supposedly finishes that storyline – that might even be the ending of Deckard’s arc, however this conclusion lacks intensity; generating a relatively unexpected moment that adds only a limited amount of value.   There was huge disappointment regarding Hobbs & Shaw 2’s status – as revealed earlier by Dwayne Johnson. It appears stalled at best. So it really sounds like everyone’s future in that ongoing story, lacks clear and solid indications. Yet every action taken in this later stage creates even more uncertainty – these lingering connections really demonstrate the immense interest in that existing fanbase for such plotpoints which haven't been properly developed yet.

Conclusion: The Shaw Family Needs its Moment to Shine!

We all crave a Shaw family spinoff! Seriously, you need this movie, fans, for that incredible ensemble cast—Jason StathamLuke EvansHelen Mirren, and Vanessa Kirby! That kind of incredible ensemble creates enormous opportunity which goes beyond those related existing plotlines; its success should already be guaranteed and is a perfect opportunity that was tragically wasted because of this huge missed opportunity! This also allows a perfect continuation beyond those potentially ending main Fast and Furious storylines; showing a different type of saga and focusing on completely different family relationships; thus creating a far different but completely welcome narrative change which will bring entirely new storylines, opportunities and possibilities for the fans and studio members alike.
