The Rings of Power, the epic series set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, is back! And while the story focuses on the evil Sauron, it seems the show is making a big statement in its latest season.
A Shocking Twist in Rings of Power Season 2
Fans have long believed Sauron is behind some of the most evil events and crimes in Middle-earth. That includes The Lord of the Rings itself! But in season 2 there's a big reveal that suggests it might be time for a rethink! In fact, it even suggests that one truly despicable event, might have had a whole other cause!
The Fall of Eregion:
There's been no shortage of tragedy, devastation and mayhem in the Second Age and that means Sauron had an impact on this period and his actions through the Orcs. But in Rings of Power season 2, viewers learned of Adar's part and role in the destruction that was wreaked across Middle-earth. That wasn't enough.
What viewers learned though, is that things got increasingly bad! The season ending showcases Eregion's defeat thanks to Adar's siege.
That's important as Sauron had other goals that were now ready for action after Eregion!
- It involves his newly crafted Nine Rings for Men.
- Sauron's plan? Hand them off to the right people!
- This will bring in the arrival of The Ringwraiths!
While Sauron remains one of the show's most memorable villains, there is something much bigger brewing and it just might change how people think of Sauron's villainy for this series.
The Entwives and Kemen:
There's a huge new antagonist arriving, adding intrigue in Rings of Power Season 2. It is the Númenórean Kemen, son of Ar-Pharazôn! What will Kemen do? This ruthless character shows up demanding supplies, giving Pelargir an ultimatum to cut down trees or go without essentials!
Viewers have seen a couple of female Ents and already have heard an amazing, angry Entwife’s warning. What will make viewers stay on the edge of their seats, though, is that Kemen's threat to cut down trees just might end one of Middle-earth's most ancient mysteries. What’s that?
The mysterious disappearance of the Entwives!
The Entwives Mystery:
Even the most hardcore fans of Lord of the Rings don't know what really happened to the Entwives! Treebeard even wondered what occurred after they went near Mordor, with hopes that one day they might return! However, some assumed Sauron was the villain but Rings of Power brings a new possibility!
It could very well be that Kemen and the Númenóreans are the culprits who wiped them out. This new perspective really shifts some understanding of these characters!
The Impact of Sauron:
This new twist may make viewers think differently of Sauron.
However, even if Kemen's actions are behind this disappearance, Sauron's influence permeates this dark tale and brings about such terror. Ultimately, he would make an impact across Middle-earth and this is where it all starts. It is only through him and Morgoth and all of their disciples! With his defeat of Eregion in the season finale, it seems like Sauron, in future seasons, might turn his gaze toward Númenor.
It’s all heading to Númenor and even those who try to stop him will certainly find themselves with some truly terrible and catastrophic evEnts that were set in motion.
A Look Into The Future of Rings of Power
It’s shaping up to be an exciting season 3!
With Kemen’s plans just revealed at the end of season two! What's next?
- The alliance of Theo and Isildur
- Whether they are going to keep the peace with the Ents.
Fans of this popular Amazon Prime Video series are really going to be wanting to tune into the new season. While the events of Rings of Power take place many centuries ago, these elements resonate deeply into current stories of humanity, bringing these ancient issues and epic events that help showcase just what made the Lord of the Rings books so powerful!
What will come next for Sauron? What’s going to happen next in Middle-earth? The series continues to push its storytelling into the future and this look ahead really gives us all sorts of exciting speculation to ponder! It may not be ready soon, but viewers should stay tuned, because season 3, around 2026, is surely something that will help create a discussion and something worth sharing, with a truly gripping storyline to enjoy.
