Outer Banks Season 3 Ending: El Dorado, Deaths & Season 4 Setup!

Netflix's Outer Banks is back and season 3 had everyone on the edge of their seats. This teen drama full of adventure had some serious twists that changed the game and really kept the viewers invested.

Season 3 ended with a huge treasure hunt for the legendary city of El Dorado. This journey was huge, not only because the characters go through so much together, including the intense drama between John B and his dad, Big John! They had some major moments! There's also Sarah Cameron, the blossoming love of the Pogues! And some pretty epic fights from the Camerons. Everything comes together as they make their way to South America.

It comes with a crazy amount of betrayals that viewers just can't seem to predict. Ward Cameron always is there, turning things around and leaving fans shocked. But this show's crazy, exciting story leaves you breathless. This leads us to some unforgettable deaths and sets up season 4 which was already announced. That might be a surprise to some viewers! It ends up with many deaths that seem to stick! They even make things incredibly unforgettable as they continue this amazing quest!

The Pogues and Their El Dorado Victory

This intense hunt for El Dorado pays off when John B and Sarah finally uncover the entrance. Big John helps along the way! These two get a win as the Pogues have a successful moment, getting a chance to finally win big after losing opportunities with the Royal Merchant, Denmark Tanny's treasure, and the Cross of Santo Domingo.

However, it wouldn’t be Outer Banks without high stakes! Carlos Singh shows up, leading to another face-off that almost makes the team lose the gold, but it didn’t. Big John really becomes a legend! Taking one for the team, but that's something these characters show throughout this amazing season, that these kids and their supporting adults do anything they need to.

Big John and Ward Cameron's Deaths

One of the most memorable, impactful parts that was brought home for Outer Banks were the deaths of some iconic characters: Big John and Ward Cameron! These deaths brought things home for fans, as Big John eventually loses a battle with an injury! It seemed he might have even felt that his story could come to a close. Ward Cameron, never one to quit, goes out like he lived his life! Giving one last heroic, powerful attempt to protect his daughter, Sarah but doesn’t survive.

Even though Outer Banks had moments in the past where it seemed like some characters might die. That doesn’t appear to be true in season 3 and is unlikely that this could change! They both made powerful impacts and fans might be left wondering just how things might change, now that these two incredible characters are gone forever!

The 18-Month Time Jump

Fans were greeted by an amazing cliffhanger moment as the show brought forward yet another quest, something even more memorable for John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope and Cleo as an older gentleman walks in and offers information, an incredible treasure hunt for the mythical loot belonging to Blackbeard. It even brought Edward Teach's (the true Blackbeard's) notes and his treasure map from 1718.

This looks to give Outer Banks even more heart as a story and this next storyline will really explore just how compelling a history could become, something even bigger and better!

Rafe Cameron's Future

What's going to be interesting! You will see the development of these characters and how it fits together!

Rafe Cameron is absent from this season finale! He gets a compelling story! We learn from Sheriff Shoupe! that he could have major trouble. He helped his dad escape the islands and he might get charged! This will create so much opportunity!

After Ward Cameron dies, what happens to Rafe Cameron? There are many theories! He wanted to keep his father alive so his vengeance may really drive season 4.

Fans won't have to wait very long!
