The hit Hulu series Only Murders In The Building just dropped a bombshell in season 4, episode 7, and it could change everything we thought we knew about our favorite podcasting trio!
A Shocking Reveal
While Mabel, Charles, and Oliver are busy hiding out on Long Island to escape the surveillance snafu at the Arconia (and simultaneously trying to make a movie about their podcast!), they're also working on their latest case. With the help of their movie's actors (Zack Galifinakis, Eva Longoria, and Eugene Levy), they put together a murder board that leads to one mind-blowing conclusion: a killer has been targeting them since season 1!
The Always-Watching Killer
The big clue? Those creepy text messages that read "I'M WATCHING YOU." They realize it's exactly the same message Jan Bellows (season 1's killer) left on her door. Suddenly, everything clicks. Those other weird things happening around the podcasters that everyone assumed were linked to Jan, that were completely overlooked?! Turns out those are part of an entirely separate murder mystery that’s lasted four seasons!
Targets Since Season One?
Think about it: In season 1, someone poisoned Oliver's dog, Winnie. Since Jan used poison as her weapon of choice, everyone dismissed it. But this new theory suggests it's a sign from our real culprit that these were always their targets!
The death of Charles's stunt double Sazz Pataki(who got the exact same murder method as Tim Kono), seems more sinister now. They believe it was meant to hit Charles hard.
This isn't just about someone who got jealous of their popularity. This is deeply personal. This opens a ton of new suspects; it could be anyone from those pesky neighbors in the Westies to even people previously thought to be safely out of the running. Now, this new twist changes how viewers will look at season 4’s other storylines.
The Mystery Deepens
Our trio are suddenly the hunted, and the episode throws them right into this huge new chase. Everyone suddenly becomes a suspect in this huge new angle, meaning more questions about whether Jan Bellows could have even really acted on her own. As for these major suspects. It looks like we're finally going to learn whether these characters that look mysterious at the Arconia's west tower, could truly be responsible!
The Westies: Suspects?
Earlier in the season, it came out that the Westies have been running some sneaky rent-control schemes. This season made a discovery about them cashing Professor Dudenoff's checks, after initially claiming he was away in Portugal. Were they in on his murder? Were they even completely duped, maybe becoming tools in another even bigger plan, and is Dudenoff’s death even linked to Charles, Oliver, and Mabel’s own pursuit? Or is this something completely separate?! These questions have added lots more excitement about this mystery. Viewers were excited that a brand new twist, like this will certainly leave them guessing who is behind it all.
No matter which path "Only Murders In The Building" takes its new story. We should have some major twists coming our way!
