That kind of fierce focus and determination separating her from many of her team members, while making her storyline an entirely different take, an even more intensely personal plot that could be more intensely associated to events relating to many involved, while keeping these intense motivations clearly present in her decisions! Those intense aspects surrounding grief and loss are truly effective and greatly added that specific weight and emotional baggage that adds so much meaning and impact to her entire personality and how she approaches all involved.

Jenny's Tragic End: A Death That Could Have Been Avoided

Jenny’s time got brutally cut short! A shootout in the Season 5 finale (“Judgment Day Part 1”) ended everything. That obsession to catch René cost her life, made worse by an ill-fated undercover operation (involving eliminating a Russian arms dealer's fiancé) that showed some critical plot and thematic implications. It ends abruptly, despite many hints in Season 4. The ending is incredibly unfortunate.

But there's even more sadness! Season 5 reveals a terrible illness; showing she had an advanced disease which made death an inevitability! That was later revealed by Ducky during an autopsy – which seems especially disturbing because it emphasizes the deep loss; that she might've even already realized herself she’s soon to be gone. It seems especially unnecessary— her death could have been averted and it makes that entire ending very cruel. A tragic disease would be easily avoided by using some more thoughtful plot changes – the overall themes already conveyed surrounding betrayal and obsession easily provides alternate storylines! The sudden ending could easily be avoided completely.

The addition of a terrible disease seemed like an impulsive change—making Jenny more impulsive and endangering her team. She was already showing intense risk-taking behavior previously; thus adding more difficulties into this storyline would have made this even more questionable; the added illness really seemed quite pointless. She deserved way better – the character deserved that opportunity to shine far, far longer and without those additional tragic elements added that didn’t quite make sense. This entire plot really needed far more thought to generate that proper outcome desired by audiences.

Could Jenny Return in NCIS: Origins?

Jenny’s death may seem absolute; a concrete finality within NCIS's main series and storytelling framework, yet she might possibly show up in that NCIS prequel, NCIS: Origins! Focusing on Gibbs' early career could include Jenny; they're already shown as partners, that opens up tons of interesting plot developments. Showing Gibbs and Jenny's initial interactions and undercover operations in Paris (specifically concerning the Russian arms dealer case) would have provided tons of potential, as viewers have already waited for years for those revelations, showcasing how interesting these very relationships and these early connections would be to that wider audience.
