Midnight's Death in My Hero Academia Justified
A major event with many deaths in My Hero Academia was the Paranormal Liberation War. Among the dead heroes was Midnight, a well-liked character with a strong Somnambulist quirk and seductive demeanor. This essay explores the events surrounding Midnight's death, their effects on the narrative, and the unresolved issues they generate.
Death Tonight During a Paranormal Liberation Front Ambush
Fellow hero Hawks came upon the scheme of the Paranormal Liberation Front to attack big cities in order to destroy hero society during the Paranormal Liberation War arc. Tasked with breaching the Paranormal Liberation Front headquarters and capturing its members, a group of heroes—including Midnight—were Still, this mission signaled the sad end of Midnight's path.
Using her Somnambulist quirk, Midnight tried to subdue the enormous villain Gigantomachia among the struggle between heroes and villains. But Mr. Compress used his quirk to toss trash at her, injuring her and separating her from her allies, so undermining her efforts. Sadly, a small group of Paranoreal Liberation Front terrorists ambushed Midnight at that point. Her fate remained unknown for a period, but it was finally revealed in My Hero Academia chapter 296 that she had died from her injuries most likely at the hands of her attackers.
Midnight's Effects on the Narrative
The loss of Midnight affected the students especially those who found her dead body. It was a sobering reminder that life hung in the balance and the hero profession was one that was dangerous. Many students found it challenging to come by this insight.
Midnight's death signaled a turning point in public opinion even as many other heroes died during the Paranormal Liberation War. As the terrible effect of the war rocked the basis of hero society, trust in heroes started to wither.
Midnight's contributions to the narrative remain important even with her sad end. Eventually Gigantomachia stopped and the villainous plot was destroyed thanks in great part to her directions to the students. But the sheer scope of the war and the many other deaths sometimes overwhelm her influence, thus her legacy is somewhat disregarded.
The Equation of Midnight's Killer
The death of Midnight came from a sequence of regrettable events directed by multiple villains. Mr. Compress attacked unexpectedly as she tried to ascend Gigantomachia's back, seriously hurting her from the falling debris. She survived, though, and made contact with the students to provide them vital direction to stop Gigantomachia.
Midnight was found lying injured by a gang of villains headed by an enigmatic man sporting an unusual gas mask. Though the deed took place off-screen, this person—who remains anonymous—directly caused Midnight's death. He subsequently told Mina Ashido he had finished Midnight off.
Gigantomachia finally brought this enigmatic villain to death since under Hitoshi Shinso's control he turned on his former allies. Gigantomachia was a strong blow that sent the villain skyward and vanished from view. Given the anarchy of the last battle, this villain most certainly perished in the tumult.
The Disappointingly Weakness of Midnight's Death
Many of Midnight's admirers felt letdown by her off-screen death since they held her in great respect. Both the manga and the anime adaptation portrayed her death as a quiet moment with little attention paid to. This stood in sharp contrast to the way other major character deaths were handled, whereby heroes and villains usually met their ends in climax events.
The letdown was exacerbated by Midnight's lack of a fitting farewell despite her popularity and convoluted path. She felt as though she was deprived of the chance to develop into a really powerful character, which left her death feeling inadequate and eclipsed.
