My Adventures With Superman Season 2 Shows Lex Luthor is Only Going to Get Worse.
While many other iterations of Lex Luthor concentrate on the height of their villainy, My Adventures With Superman offers a more unusual origin tale for its version of the villain. This action serves a narrative purpose by showing Lex Luthor steadily amping up, even though it was half for more real-world practical reasons - as Lex Luthor wasn't supposed to be in My Adventures With Superman so early in the show and the changes made to him meant he could easily be a different character if the needs be.
Clearly, Luther is growing more self-assured in the story he crafts regarding the justification for stopping Superman. Particularly while working with Task Force X, who share much the same worldview, he is also at a stage where whatever the Man of Steel does is only going to be perceived in a way that reinforces his hate to himself. Combine this with My Adventures With Superman season 2, episode 3 showing Lex apparently acquiring Steel's supersuit and Metallo robots - not to mention episode 4 adding the support of STAR Labs and the Pentagon to his roster - and all the indicators point to the idea that Lex Luthor is only set to get a bigger and more troubling threat as time goes on. Although this is fascinating, it also makes me at least somewhat afraid since the stage is prepared for some quite horrible evil schemes.
Season 2 of My Adventures with Superman, Episode 4, Cements Its Iteration of Lex Luthor as My Currently Most Despised Version of the DC Villain
After many situations that make it abundantly evident he is a special brand of menace, my Adventures With Superman season 2, episode 4 cements its iteration of Lex Luthor as my current most hated DC Villain. Lex Luthor is an enemy whose simplicity in many respects seems so obvious that I believe it actively makes him more difficult to reach. Changing him at all runs the danger of losing what makes him function so well; he is linked with a lot of villain clichés with centuries-long histories, so avoiding complete change runs the danger of producing a version of the character who fades into the background.
Years ago, Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luthor showed me that DC shows and movies can perfectly nail the villain in a way that it might otherwise appear only comics could truly pull off, but a more recent release has strengthened that belief. Although Lex Luthor from My Adventures With Superman is quite different in many respects, this is what makes him work so effectively on the show and an exceptionally frustrating Superman adversary.
My Adventures With Superman Could Be Plotting a Long-Term Lex Luthor Origin Story.
Given the already stretched-out character of Lex's formal introduction and the fact that his initial contact with the Man of Steel involves no physical fighting, even if he possesses the tools to do so, My Adventures With Superman seems to be aiming for a long run for Lex's villainous plot. With enough means to be able to play the long game instead of going all out against his heroic opponent, My Adventures With Superman season 2, episode 4 shows the villain planning as he has never done before.
Given his storyline now justifies him acquiring the great wealth usually associated with the character, and his design seems to be ready for a dramatic hair loss moment similar to the original comic explanation for his baldness, all this suggests Luthor may end the show in a state more like his usual self. Although bringing Lex Luthor to a place and look viewers know best would be a fantastic reward, I also find the original method My Adventures With Superman uses to make its iteration unlikeable to be rather remarkable.
The Lex Luthor of My Adventures With Superman is Really Unappealing.
Lex Luthor has evolved over the years into an amazing spectrum of variations all terrible and horrible in their own unique ways. Nonetheless, practically every Lex has certain qualities in common since even more heroic versions of the character still show some traces of his telltale ego, only to let viewers know that it is still Lex Luthor being portrayed. My Adventures With Superman modifies things in a way that generates a whole new kind of antagonism while keeping Lex's most irritating qualities: his conceit, snarky temperament, and inclination for scheming.
The Lex Luthor adjustments done to My Adventures With Superman make him a really unique and individual figure that is difficult. Rather than having the more traditional motivations of being Clark's boyhood friend gone bad or a corrupt business mogul, his origin tale shows him be furious that Superman destroyed his boss before Dr. Ivo could cause untenable damage with his invention. Still, that's sufficient to have Luthor present "The Superman Problem" in My Adventures With Superman season 2, episode 4, and invite Jimmy Olsen in merely to dispute with him about. This all adds a pittiness to his decision to hate Superman with every ounce of his being that makes him a different kind of evil almost entirely borne out of Luthor actively going out of his way to create and nurture it instead of their rivalry being inevitable. Although this creates a refreshing dynamic, it also makes me loathe this version of Lex Luthor in new ways as you were cut off in traffic, so your genesis story is shockingly similar to dedicating your life to evil.
My Excursions with Superman
Animated action-adventure superhero series My Adventures with Superman tracks the Man of Steel in a fresh origin story. Emphasizing the lighter side of DC's hero, the show tracks Clark Kent's path of self-discovery of what it means to be a hero while attempting to fit in with society. Along with trying to keep the city of Metropolis safe from massive machines and super-powered villains, Lois Lane, his best friend and crush, will accompany him to cover the most important news.
With major setups for season 2 including the debut of two legendary Superman foes, my Adventures with Superman episode 10 ended the season. Both reviewers and fans of Superman have found this rendition to be rather popular.
