The truth is Manheim took to Instagram to say to fans, that this was something she'd decided to do and it was more of a proactive move! It seemed that she was ready for new challenges.

What seemed a great change from the crew of this popular series! The producers decided to shake things up with Maura Tierney stepping in as "Jessica Brady,", the person to step into the role of head homicide. The series seemed to get back on track.

You see, "Law & Order" is about bringing in big players, not just to lead the show! Tierney brought on the talents she has had over many of her years on screen in series like "ER". This gave a powerful take as she jumped right into the story. It wasn't only that "Brady, the new character, didn't care much about what people thought of her, but her character felt more direct, as opposed to Dixon, and wasn't worried about connecting with the other officers. This move left Riley really put off. In fact, this type of tension might continue through future episodes, leaving "Law & Order," more dramatic and entertaining.

Return Of Camryn Manheim?

The question, though, for Law & Order fans is will we see Dixon coming back? The good thing is Dixon's sudden exit means there's a pretty good chance that the character could come back! It wouldn't take a whole lot as she moved to Florida. The door could open up! Her message to her former team members never really addressed that her new role was a homicide one. That leaves some real speculation that she might come back for another season or even for an appearance.

Even better! It seems like this move would be easier since Manheim was part of the original series! That's not to say she won't return to Law & Order.
