Are those original criminal minds truly dead in the season 2 finale?
The last combat sequence of Evolution season 2 closes the Criminal Minds with a possibility of killing an original character. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) has been working to solve the riddle of Gold Star ever since the season 1 capper presented it. Along with large leads, they have followed lesser ones. Sadly, the situation has turned out to be much more complex than any of them had ever imagined. The fact that Elias Voit is walking free just because has first-hand knowledge of the situation aggravates things.
Voit's Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 Finale Fate Justified
Every indication about Gold Star points to Pete Bailey, Doug Bailey's brother. Late FBI Deputy Director's brother apparently is a big conspiracy theorist. He wouldn't move when the older Bailey tried to save him. Voit exploits this to fool Pete into thinking Prentiss and the BAU caused his brother's death. Fortunately, the profiler can persuade Pete and his friend Jade Waters not to carry out their retribution. Still, resolving the Gold Star case marks not precisely the end of the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finale.
As they rush against time to save Prentiss, the BAU is compelled to rely once more on Voit's assistance. But Sicarius would have been freed to the general public in prison in exchange for his intelligence, an offer that sounds rather suspicious given his inclination for solitude. The profiler lack time to consider the matter, though. The plot doesn't finish there even though they save Prentiss and the serial killer achieves his want.
Voit is attacked by two fellow inmates in the last scene of Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 and gets stabbed repeatedly. Though it appears they were sent to locate and attack Sicarius, the show has never showed his attacker. It reminds me somehow of Spencer Reid's incarceration, however this time the victim is legitimately in the penitentiary for several offenses.
Is Voit Dead in the Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 Finale?
Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 finishes with the screen blackening before the attack can finish. One cannot thus be sure he is dead. Having said that, the conclusion has hints that would expose what happened to Sicarius. First of all, Voit's out-of-character demand to be let into the general populace suggests the attack is a red herring. The Paramount+ program doesn't say anything about the prisoners that ambushed him, but it's not out of the question that he planned the entire disturbance as means of escape.
Second, it is proven that Dave Rossi is still tormented by Voight before the scenario described even takes place. Prentiss notices Sicarius lingering in the door shortly before she shuts it when he gets to Penelope Garcia's post-case house party. This suggests that the most experienced BAU member will still be battling the same problem that dogged him over Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2. For background, although it's yet unknown when it will show on the platform, the Paramount+ reboot is already confirmed to return for a third season.
Voit's Fate Affects Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3
Although the episode first presented the idea of Gold Star, this may be a starting point for the profiler's next case, but there is no obvious set-up for it. Whatever happens to Voit, his fate might still influence the direction Criminal Minds: Evolution season 3 takes. Should he be dead, the profiler is obliged to look into it. Should Paramount+ demand a more intricate plot, Rossi's death can be connected back to a fresh BAU problem. Still, this is not the first time a profiler has been set up for a crime.
He essentially ran laps on the profilers throughout Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2, even though they were able to catch him and stop his rule as Sicarius. Conversely, Voit might still be terrorizing the BAU in fresh ways if he is not dead. He stayed several steps ahead of them till the very last every time they believed they had finally found him. Assuming the attack on him is phoney, Prentiss, Rossi, and the others should be ready for additional misbehavior directed against them.
