From Season 3: Cicadas, Music Boxes, and Supernatural Horror!

The eerie world of From is back with its third season! For fans who love a chilling, suspenseful drama, it continues to build on the supernatural horror!

Randall's Nightmares

This season, Randall (A.J. Simmons), a pretty angry resident living on an abandoned bus, is having some seriously disturbing visions! He sees these cicadas that first appeared a while back. The cicadas seemed to emerge right before the ending of season 2! And what made them really interesting? Well, they came to haunt Randall as the insects are a key symbol and may be a sign of things to come in the series!

The Music Box and Its Victims

To truly get into this, you have to explore how season 3 starts. Boyd (Harold Perrineau), Kristi (Chloe Van Landschoot), and Kenny (Ricky He) manage to defeat the Smiley Creature (Jamie McGuire) who was wreaking havoc and is responsible for these nightmares, allowing Boyd to investigate the body of the Smiley Creature! They discover that these unsettling creatures really do have human-like anatomy! When Boyd and Kenny looked for what the creature contained, they find a huge surprise! That's right, the body of the Smiley Creature is swarming with these awful cicadas!

Then suddenly the cicadas just vanish! It was unexpected for Boyd, Kristi and Kenny to see this but this isn’t the end for these pesky insects! The cicadas seem to just stay around, leaving this humming noise throughout the town! These cicadas don’t go away until Boyd destroys a mysterious music box! That music box kept Randall, Julie (Hannah Cheramy) and Marielle (Kaelen Ohm) all locked into this haunting nightmare!

Randall's Trauma

It’s really quite the haunting experience to have and it’s been playing over and over and over and over in Randall’s mind. This character doesn’t have peace in this third season!

In season 2, Randall, Julie, and Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) were under some kind of supernatural curse! It appears the music box was to blame! This left these three under the power of this supernatural music box. What’s pretty cool is this isn’t connected to what Tabitha is doing as she finds out about the power and attempts to go rescue the children that are “locked up in the tower”! Tabitha is also aided by Sara (Avery Konrad)! The music box that causes so much trouble is eventually defeated and Julie, and Marielle both deal with this difficult moment, but Randall seems to experience these haunting nightmares!

The Return of the Cicadas

One of the creepiest parts about Randall in the series is his struggle with the supernatural event. The insects really seem like an awful warning! That's because while Boyd is doing everything he can to stop them, he manages to destroy this crazy music box but what happens to this character is even more horrifying!

You see these creatures attack the town residents making things even more intense and scary than before! All thanks to this music box monster! The cicadas and these terrors could be seen as a symbol! Something that continues to signal how there are larger supernatural events to uncover that the series explores.

What It All Means

While the events of this season haven’t really revealed every little thing that happens with these cicadas or how these symbols mean even more! For now the creepy insects bring more than a chilling effect and may mean the music box monster may just still be out there. As viewers we also are shown the scary moments of how intense these terrifying supernatural elements continue in the third season and its ending will definitely have everyone talking.

Fans are certainly excited to see just what this season reveals!
