Disney Night Sends 'Dancing with the Stars' Soaring to New Heights!
Get ready, folks, because 'Dancing With the Stars' (DWTS) just totally dominated the ratings on October 22nd! That awesome Disney Night episode pulled in a massive 0.72 rating in the coveted Adults 18-49 demographic; beating everyone and everything else in the entertainment game and even setting a completely new voting record which demonstrates just how popular Disney Nights have become over recent seasons! This is a clear indicator of how successful specific themes for the shows truly are.
But here's the truly amazing part – over 16 MILLION votes were cast for that show's performers, totally smashing that prior record set back during season 12 (2011)! That one saw Hines Ward and Kym Johnson taking home the mirrorball trophy; earning over 22 million viewers, however, a lesser number of voters at the time; even though, it seems reasonable to argue the larger audience might've been less inclined to cast their votes! What a feat, particularly given how digital voting became vastly more important over the last decade and change, with technology greatly enabling larger volumes of participation through methods of voting beyond merely watching the show.
And it's worth noting that it is completely unprecedented! This is the first time ever DWTS has released official voting numbers! It demonstrates just how transparent the current voting process is; showcasing exactly how viewers are influencing those results in meaningful ways.
The success of Disney Night was undeniable. It increased viewer counts by about 10 percent (4.85 million vs 4.40 million viewers) compared to the last week; that massive increase completely smashed expectations which was made better from another significant percentage increase among that same Adults 18-49 demographic which got better results, a rise of 7 percent (0.72 vs 0.67 rating)! Even when looking at comparisons, compared to last year's Disney Night— a 24 percent increase; from 0.58 rating to the incredible and unprecedented 0.72 rating!
And it only keeps getting better as the current season shows. For that current airing schedule, it totally blows other entertainment broadcasts out of the water, scoring a whopping 0.69 rating for that key Adults 18-49 demo. This simply showcases that Disney Night continues to grow more popular among these key demographics each year!
This upcoming episode is airing on October 29th— a brand new Halloween theme– titled "Halloween Nightmares"— adding more thrill and anticipation to the shows; hinting at another very high-stakes competition as the competitors prepare for another major show; showcasing an intense and high-stakes atmosphere suitable to halloween, hinting that this should attract many additional viewers!
That Disney Night episode was not merely impressive! The overall success was truly staggering and showcases just why this specific night has become more and more successful and critically acclaimed over the last decade; this isn’t mere coincidence, Disney Nights produce far better outcomes, showing the audience preference; indicating a key strategy for creating higher interest; making use of the familiarity for that theme, showing how well-tailored it is for its target audience!
These massive ratings are impressive; particularly during a time where the popularity of network television itself declined significantly compared to those streaming services; showcasing this unique situation which showcases the resilience of this specific television network; and hinting toward another possibility – maybe more themed episodes in the future!
